In my ongoing research into the science and art of Fail I have discovered the art form of the demotivational poster.

So for anyone with too much motivation.

  2. But lest you get TOO depressed, I found some motivational demotivational posters too. Thats not the same as plain motivational posters mind you!

  3. You look very depressed, sitting there in your jammies, Robert. Maybe try visiting the Sole Supports or Proprioceptive Insole websites to help cheer you up.:drinks

Nothing like being demotivated to be a failure ...I recall seeing some research >20 yrs ago that showed that the only difference between a "failed" person and a "successful" person was that the "successful" person had 3.4 times more failures as the "failed" person.

  5. I was feeling beligerent today . :mad::boxing:

A List of demotivational ( Things I wish I hadn't have said) comments.
I would have done the posters I have if I can only work out how to get them from the email to tiny pic

    Anyway
    Enjoy ;)

12 of the finest (unintentional) double-entendres ever aired on British TV and radio:
    >
    > 1. Ted Walsh - Horse Racing Commentator - 'This is really a lovely horse. I once rode her mother.'
    >
    > 2. New Zealand Rugby Commentator - 'Andrew Mehrtens loves it when Daryl Gibson comes inside of him.'
    >
    > 3. Pat Glenn, weightlifting commentator - 'And this is Gregoriava from Bulgaria . I saw her snatch this morning and it was amazing!'
    >
    > 4. Harry Carpenter at the Oxford-Cambridge boat race 1977 - 'Ah, isn't that nice. The wife of the Cambridge President is kissing the
    > Cox of the Oxford crew.'
    >
    > 5. US PGA Commentator - 'One of the reasons Arnie (Arnold Palmer) is playing so well is that, before each tee shot, his wife takes
    > out his balls and kisses them. Oh my god !! What have I just said??'
    >
    > 6. Carenza Lewis about finding food in the Middle Ages on 'Time Team Live' said: 'You'd eat beaver if you could get it.'
    >
    > 7. A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked,
    > 'So Bob, where's that eight inches you promised me last night?' Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too,
    > because they were laughing so hard!
    >
    > 8. Steve Ryder covering the US Masters: 'Ballesteros felt much better today after a 69 yesterday.'
    >
    > 9. Clair Frisby talking about a jumbo hot dog on 'Look North' said: 'There's nothing like a big hot sausage inside you on a cold night like this. '
    >
    > 10 Mike Hallett discussing missed snooker shots on 'Sky Sports': 'Stephen Hendry jumps on Steve Davis's misses every chance he gets.'
    >
    > 11. Michael Buerk on watching Philippa Forrester cuddle up to a male astronomer for warmth during BBC1's UK eclipse coverage remarked: 'They
    > seem cold out there. They're rubbing each other and he's only come in his shorts.’
    > 12.. Ken Brown commentating on golfer Nick Faldo and his caddie Fanny Sunneson lining-up shots at the Scottish Open: 'Some weeks Nick likes to
    > use Fanny; other weeks he prefers to do it by himself.'

    Cheers

  10. Ah, I'm glad this thread has made a comeback!

Demotivational posters are my present favourite internet funny. Find lots here

    http://verydemotivational.com/

Apart from the standard sort there are several "local jokes", memes as they are called in webslang. Its a strange idea but for some reason I find them particularly amusing. I can haz cheeseburger the original. Have you seen my friend kyle the esoteric, and many more.

In homage to the Dr Sha threads, here are a few of these, the "this renders your argument invalid" meme, designed to mock those who use unrelated and irrational comebacks to attempt to blunt a criticism.

What about this "I wish I didn't say that" moment:
Sandy Roberts (Australian sports commentator) was hosting some event on Channel 7 infornt of a large croud, also on live television..... when he introduced the incumbent Miss Australia, Cynthia Dick as Cynthia Cock! Amid raucous laughter from the live audience and despite barely being able to contain his laughter, good old Sandy desperately sought to recover the situation by exclaiming "you must get cock quite a lot!"???

    one of my favourite colemanballs:

And the line up for the final of the Women's 400 metres hurdles includes three Russians, two East Germans, a Pole, a Swede and a Frenchman.

I think the credit for this demotivational poster may go to David Smith for his comments on Flim Flam in the Somnio running shoes thread.

  26. Depends which planet you are from... Nice work fella.

  27. This is post grad level demotivational stuff, the "composite" demotivator.

  28. Loving your work, if I work on improving my technique, will I ever be as competent a de-motivator as you currently are?

  29. I think you show great promise. The Muppet eagle was inspired. If you study hard, perhaps go back to working with the NHS for a few years, you could become just as resentful and depressingly negative as me. ;)

Apparently science is not the ONLY antidote to the poison of enthusiasm. :D

  30. You miss the point: enthusiasm is the poison, if you want evidence for this look no further than the foot-typing threads. Maybe, if I go to the NHS I should be your manager?

  31. That would be fun!

  32. Its not in the classical Demotivational format but it made me laugh!

  33. Apparently, one person is already using the "and sh!t" alternative, and trying to promote it's use here. But nobody else is falling for it.

That is an absolutely top quality find. Where is it from?

  37. http://www.foothelpers.com/about.html

There is a rich vein of comedy there, mixed in with the debasement of science.

Fortunatly I can type with my nose.
