Somebody e mailed this to me. Count the number of times the letter F appears in the following sentance. I'm told if you get it right first time you are either a genius or a psychopath! Since the arena has it's share of both i will be interested to see if anyone does!

    FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE

    SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI

    FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH

    THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

There are in fact six F 's in that sentance. How many did you see?

    Regards
    Robert

    Hello Robert

I don't wish to appear a smartarse but:

the sentence that follows the question, viz: 'I'm told if you get it right first time you are either a genius or a psychopath!', contains 2 'f's

    'FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE

    SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI

    FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH

THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...' is not a sentence

and yes, I did get the 6 'f's. As in most of these puzzles, the trick is to think outside the box. Try reading it backwards and it's easy

Bags I be the psychopath; for sure I'm no genius!

    All the best

    Bill

    Dear Psychopath

    Thats a shame. Smartarse. ;)

I had'nt even noticed the fact that i used another sentance before the significant one

Which proves i to am no genius!

    Regards
    Robert ,
    neither genius not psycho :)

I didnt see the first sentence, and got 6 "f's" in the 2nd

So does that make me a psychopath - unobservant or dumb?

PS that is a rhetorical question.

    Don.

How the hell does this tell if you're a genius?

I bet most INTP's and INTJ's would get this correct.

I'm an INTP and saw 6 F's. I can't imagine someone of average intelligence not getting this correct.

I did, however, score 97th percentile on the aftq portion of the asvab, and finished it the fastest time the recruiters had seen before. That test was a joke, though. It's supposed to be a thinly veiled IQ test, but....I thought it was seriously idiotic.

I'm not a psychopath, and I don't feel the title of genius is appropriate. Geniuses are people who innovate and greatly contribute to society. They are highly influential to most people, and have a certain presence to them.

I'm just another intellectually gifted fool.

Somehow, the term genius has been confused with the term gifted in the last decade or so. It's rather bizarre.

  6. I think you're, taking this one just a bit too seriously!!

This is purely a bit of fun! That's why it's in the break room. You are quite correct that it cannot be used to diagnose psychopathy (although some similar tests can be used to assess the effectiveness of right brain / left brain communicatio which fmri scans show may be significant in autistic spectrum disorders.)

    Chill, psycho!!!!

Ha! Ha!I always miss the given letter in the conjunctions / the small joining words even when I know its a test to find them. And I have only stabbed a few people in the shower at my mum's house and that was years ago. I also have a T shirt with tarmac and a white line on the back of it when I wear it, it makes me a bit of a cycle path.

    Cheeers Dave

    woa!

    you guys have serious issues.

as long as you're just taking the genetic predisposition for violence/aggression out in a non-criminal way, though..then whatever.
