I was told by a colleague that (with medical background years back from another country) we are able to prescribe some Penedine Forte in Qld. Does anyone know our rights to these? I wasn't brave like LL to get right into that issue at the time.

Panadeine Forte (paracetamol 500mg with codeine 30mg), may be prescribed in Queensland only by a surgical podiatrist with a recognised qualifiation (ie FACPS) by the Podiatrists Board (Qld).

This was brought in with the new legislative changes affecting podiatrists seenhere, which is currently undergoing implementation.

Do you know much about QUT's plans to provide upskilling for "regular" Pods in usage of stronger LA's for Nail avulsion surgery? How soon?

Is there anything in the QLd ammendment for regular Pods-I read quickly searching out before, can't see anything stand out.

Keep your ears open for an announcement from the APodAQld and/or the Podiatrists Board (Qld) - information on the update course will be forthcoming soon I believe.

Other than local anaesthesia and emergency adrenaline, there are no other changes affecting general podiatrists at this time.

Sure will keep eye out on updates when course is ready, adrenalin sounds interesting, also. Nice to know we'll have it for emergency, lest we look paralised should such need arise
