Hello everyone, it has been very long time since I last took part in these forums here but I have a question mainly for practices in Australia. We are looking to change/upgrade our practice program and would like some recommendations for general software to run our 4 clinics. Our current system is usually run by physios and is not really doing what we would like. However, changes and upgrades may not be the right way to go. What does everyone else use?

Front Desk. Costly, but brilliant in its simplicity.

I have previously used Front Desk and NetPodiatry. The 2 clinics were set up differently and therefore had different needs. Overall I would probably favour Front Desk but this could be due to the application of the software, not the software itself.

thanks for that. I have looked at Front Desk but was wondering if there was something else out there

    HI All,

I have used TM2 for many years - we are a physio clinic but as you also have multiple clinics ( as do I ) this program has been great. We use the hosted solution that allows for one central appointment book, easy to learn, online booking features and great support.

    Worth checking it out.

We also used Gumnut software for many years but switched when we wanted to have a central appointment book function - but also worth a look.

    Best Wishes

    Hi

I use Frontdesk, its simple to use, it does everything I want and offers loads more than I need, plus I'm pretty much a paperless office now. The back up support is excellent. It is more expensive, but I think worth it.

    Cheers

    Hi All,

Has anyone used Netpodiatry and found it useful? We use it that the University but there are some weaknesses. Does anyone know which systems allow SMS reminders for appointments? Automatic reminding for diabetic or orthotic reviews? And which have the best compatiblility with accounting software for GST and general tax purposes?
Also has anyone found the web based systems beneficial?

    Thanks.

Front Desk for mine - works well for multiple practices & multiple practitioners. I think it is the best on the market for Allied Health, it is also a large company so you have the security of decent back up support & upgrades etc. Like any program, it is well worth spending the time initially to understand the program & its capabilities

We had TM2 and got rid of it.

TM2 software comes from Ireland and is sold in Australia by physiotherapists. Support in OZ is poor and very slow.

Am now running Front desk. It works well and has great support. The Frontdesk people know about Medicare, DVA and HICAPS. So, if you ever get a problem, they can fix it online straight away.

Also, I understand some of the software providers are now encrypting the data files, so if they ever go belly up or their support costs become unreasonable you have no way of transferring your data to a replacement system.
    Good Luck

I have used three different programs in my clinic.

I started with NetPodiatry, and this was fine until the Database grew over 3 years. At this time the program really started to slow down when being used across the network. I was discussing this with a colleague recently who said they now have a fix, however for our business waiting longer than 6 months for this was too long.

Next I tried PracticeBee, my advice there is don't go near them. We went live with the program and within 2 days reverted back to the old program, the version we were given was very buggy and not business ready.

Now I have been using FrontDesk for the last 6 months. I have been reasonably happy with it and there support has been great. There are things I miss from the other programs, but all in all this has been the best buy for my clinic.

Frontdesk does SMS reminders and all reporting that I have found necessary

  15. We use Trim Practice Management and Trim Video Analysis across multiple locations.

Really good reporting and SMS functionality.

I think SMS text reminder functions are part of every software package these days - They have to be! The problem I found is the cost of each text message differs and it's another cost you have to add up.. For instance, TM2 is 8.5p a message compared to Rushcliff's PPS which is 6p (Which I am proud to say I use as it's always been great) now 2.5p a message doesn't work out to be a lot, but if you send 500 text confirmations and reminders a month that's £12.50 and so you package costs you an extra £150 each year.

Something to watch out for.. Ultimately you need to try everything on offer and see what feels easy to use for you. My 2p's worth is to check out www.rushcliff.com and try a demo.

    Re: Practice program

Just an update on my original post. We have gone with the new version 7 of PPMP which was an update from our old Practice Advantage program. We considered it the best choice financially and from a disruption point of view. That is not true! Not sure if I am 100% happy with it yet as there were numerous problems when we switched over, more than I would have anticipated considering it is virtually the same program. Anyway, after several weeks of phone calls and phantom computer take overs it looks like it is now at least 80% efficient. The backup is from Melbourne and seems like a small set up although they never actually answer their phones and it is always a call back. Time will tell.

    Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know about Cliniko. It is a very new and completely web-based practice management system. It is very easy to use, and handles all of the functions you have mentioned in this thread.

It is also pay-as-you-go, so there are no upfront fees or contracts, just a monthly subscription. There is a 30-day free trial, so you can give it a go without risk.

You can find it at www cliniko com.

I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Just signed up to Rushcliffe Software (UK company) Looks just what i need doesn't do medicare or dva of course but that doesn't matter to me as i use ACSS for that. Only had it for a few days and need to learn a lot more about it but it looks very adaptable and also a really good price in comparison to some of the other Australian Software i have looked at.

We have used Clinic Office from Pioneer for 3 years. I've tried a few others but have always found clinic office the most intuitive.
