For those that may be interested, I will be lecturing along with Drs. Benno Nigg, Chris Nester, Luke Cicchinelli, Samuel Barouk, Javier Pascual Huerta and many others in Valladolid, Spain at the Congreso Nacional de Podologia 2012 (Spanish National Congress 2012) being held October 5-7, 2012 (see attached notice). It looks to be a great seminar and I hope to see some of you there.

In addition, I will be introducing the Spanish language translations of my three Precision Intricast books (translated by Carlos Vergés Salas, Baldiri Prats Climent and Sonia Martínez Aldaz) at this Spanish National Congress. This Spanish National Congress will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Podiatry Profession.

Congratulations to Spanish Podiatry on a half century of remarkable progress and achievement!:drinks

    Thanks Kevin,

Might go to this one. Cheaper than a well-known conference here in the UK

  3. Bel:

We are going to make a shorter trip on this lecture-vacation than we did in Belgium and the UK. Pam and I will be staying in Madrid for three days of vacation before heading north to Valladolid for a day of vacation, followed by two days of seminar and then back to the States on Sunday, October 7th. I am looking forward to hearing the talks by many of the speakers at what appears to be a very good seminar. It will be fun to be lecturing with Benno Nigg and Chris Nester again.

    Maybe I'll see you there.

    So, I looked at the cost of attending 3 up-coming podiatry conferences. See for yourself;

    Cost of conference - £174.00
Return flights Stanstead to Valladolid - £32.00
    Keynote speakers (2 of which are also speaking at the Langer BSS) inc;
    Benno Nigg
    Chris Nester
And our very own Kevin Kirby

SCP Centenary Annual Conference and Exhibition 2012
    Cost of conference Non-member - £315.00
Cost of conference Member - £235.00
Cheapest return flights to Glasgow - £76.00

  5. That settles it then......not only am I cheap....but I am good also.....and modest to boot!

  6. Arrived safely in Madrid this morning. My friend and colleague, Javier Pascual Huerta, PhD, was happy to receive his Spanish translations of my three Precision Intricast books after we did our morning sightseeing tour around sunny Madrid. Pam and I also walked a few hundred feet from our apartment next to the Plaza Mayor in Madrid this afternoon to admire the equestrian statue of King Phillip III of Spain in the middle of the Plaza.

    Weather forecast...no rain all week!

    We'll be there ...

  8. Have a great time, sorry I cannot be there (give me a bit more notice next time). Send my love to Pascual and tell him from me that he needs a hair cut (as usual).

  9. I vaguely remember when I had hair...

  10. Here is the Palacio Real de Madrid (Royal Palace of Madrid) with a full moon in the background at 7:00 AM on my morning stroll through Madrid.

Off to Segovia tomorrow with Pam and our tour guide, Javier.:drinks

  11. We also visited Plaza de Espana in Madrid and saw the statue dedicated to the author Cervantes along with the characters from his book, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. The main characters from the book, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, are out in front, with Cervantes looking down on them from above. Cervantes' book, Don Quixote, is considered by many as one of the greatest works of fiction ever written.

Glad we ordered such nice weather here in Spain for our trip!

    Nice pics, Kevin.

Afraid I won`t be coming this time, my daughter is in hospital at the moment.

Have a great time and give my regards to Pam.

    Cheers,
    Bel

  13. Bel:

Sorry to hear about your daughter..hope she gets better soon.

Just arrived in Valladolid. Sounds like there will be about 650 seminar registrants at the Spanish National Congress....big seminar!!

  14. I would like to extend my thanks to the organizers of the Spanish National Congress in Valladolid, Spain which just ended today. There were approximately 700 podiatrists, biomechanists and other professionals attending the meeting and the large lecture hall, at times, was nearly packed full. The meeting was very well run and it was especially nice for me to be lecturing with Drs. Benno Nigg and Chris Nester again. In fact, after Benno, Chris and I went to the hotel in Madrid after the seminar, we all agreed that things went rather nicely and thought the meeting content was excellent.

Special thanks to all the organizers for all of their hard work in making this seminar run so smoothly. The Spanish National Congress this year celebrated the 50 year anniversary of podiatric medical profession in Spain, which is very nice for me since the USA celebrated their anniversary for podiatric medicine this year also, their 100 year anniversary. All the organizers of the three day Valladolid seminar should be very proud of the great educational quality of this event. I only heard very positive things from the seminar registrants who spoke to me during the two days I lectured.

In addition, Pam and I had a wonderful time in Spain, but it was much too short of a vacation for us in Madrid, Segovia and Valladolid before the seminar. Also, thank you to all my Spanish friends and colleagues for ordering perfect sunny weather for us the whole week.:drinks Now, I am in Washington, DC, waiting to fly back to Sacramento, and see about 20 patients tomorrow, on Monday.:morning:

Here is a photo of some of the lecturers and organizers of the 2012 Spanish National Congress.

    Hello Dr Kirby

Students who have attended the conference are very grateful to have met you.

We feel privileged to receive a special class of Biomechanics (STJ rotational equilibrium) given by the same author which we have studied in books ...

We got a good memory of you and a good photo wich will attach tomorrow!

Greetings from the students who could hear his lectures and we hope to see you again soon

    Thx!

  18. You are very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the conference. My wife and I certainly enjoyed our visit to your beautiful country.

In the three times now that I have lectured in Spain, I have become very impressed with how Spanish podiatrists are becoming some of the most knowledgeable podiatrists in the world in regards to foot and lower extremity biomechanics.

    Looking forward to the photos.:drinks
