Variability in midfoot kinematics

    Is the lack of variablity the cause or is it the effect. If pain occurs in certain positions then those positions will be avoided. So, lack of variability in feet with "pathology (pain)" could be explained by the fact that the individual is walking in such a manner to avoid pain. Therefofore the lack of variablity is the result of pathology.

    On the other hand a lack of variability could cause more repititions of stress on structures and could lead to pathology. So both explanations are plausible. The fact that both explanations are plausible makes use of the entropy difficult.

    The difficulty lies in wanting a simple answer that fits all cases. The fact that the client has a loss in one area can cause symptoms in another means that the practitioner must ask questions to determine the likely original loss and treat both ends accordingly.
