Flat feet and surgery

    I am a 28 year old female and have had flat feet since 12. i was given custom othodics but they didnt help. after that i never went back to see a podiatrist till recently. I was told what shoes to buy and am going to try orthodics in a few weeks.
    I asked the podiatrist about surgery.
    He said joint spacers between the foot and ankle would be the last resort. Why? Would it not heal well or something? He also mentioned, treating the pain comes first and that some experience Achilles heel...
