I recently terminated my self employment contract.
I was verbally abused by the owner via text messages. I felt that the owner did not have respect for me and I did not feel appreciated by the owner of the Practice. I advised him that I would not accept the way he spoke to me and decided to terminate my self employment contract with immediate effect.
I had to give 3 months notice but didn't because I felt that I could not work with someone who did not appreciate what I brought to the Practice and did not respect me.
He is now seeking legal action because I did not give 3 months notice.
I know we are still in lockdown and the Practice is closed. The Practice has been closed since the 22nd March 2020.We were advised that the Practice will reopen in June.
Any advice if any how I can get help with this. I have emailed the college for advice.

    Hi Isatfoot,
Im not sure where you are located.
If you are in Australia and a member of the association, you have free access to their HR partner. Who most certainly can help you.
Other than that, it all depends what is in the contact you signed.
I have never heard of a self employment contract. do you mean you were contracting?

    Hi Mark,
    Thank You for replying.
Sorry I am in the United Kingdom.
My contract is a consultancy contract.
    Yes I basically am contracting.
My contract states I have to give 3 months notice but since we are in lockdown we can't actually go into treat patients and the Practice had been closed for 1 month now,the Reason I terminated my contract was because I could not see my self go and work at a place where you were not respected and valued.

Sounds like you are in breach of your contract. I have too say 3 months notice is excessive.
If you dont want to break your contract , Just go back to work in June and finish up on the 22 June, thats 3 months !
Looks like you need legal advice with your contract and the ramifications if you break it.
