Advice on injection therapies?

Hello everyone,
I am currently (for the final couple of weeks) a 3rd year undergrad. Im looking for options to extend my future scope of practice and increase possible employability.

Whilst on placement I was always interested in the injection therapies (ie steroids).

I was just wondering if anyone has any information on how to go about obtaining the qualification on how to do this, and who to approach about it??

June's edition of "Podiatry Now" page 53 lists 3 courses on injection therapies.
If you can't get hold of a copy, let me know and I will post the details.

I don´t have access to "Podiatry Now" just yet I'm working on getting register with SOCAP asap, if you would be so kind could you please give some more information about these courses (dates, where it will be held, etc.) because I am really interested in participating on one of these courses.

Hi H-Pod,

Once you have completed one of the the above courses, I would advise you get 10 supervised injections signed off in your log book by a doctor or consultant podiatric surgeon. Accredited courses would be preferable for you as you're then covered under SCP insurance.

I see you're in Brum- get in touch with John Malik (Birmingham foot clinic) or Stuart Metcalfe (Solihull PCT) for supervised experience.

Hi Helena,

With regards to employability, any new graduate would be employed if they showed themselves to be a safe pair of hands from the outset, rather than having a broader range of skills than other graduates. Stuff like injection therapy comes often after years of treating MSK conditions with other techniques.

But I commend your enthusiasm and foresight (safe pair of hands remember, is often the key to neo-graduate employment, all my managers have told me that)
