My good wife purchased a pair last night, walked up without looking, put her hand out and took the first pair she touched.

We now have a pair of size 2, Aldi's Zagz, a derby that do not come in a box but are tied together as a pair, cost $6.50

l will list the measurements separate left from right for the Aldi product branded as Zagz, as the pair we have do not match for back heights, see pic.

These are the results from the pair we purchased, all measurements were taken with footbeds removed.

...............Back height............ lateral side........... medial side........ Throat(opening)
    RF . ............ . 50mm. . ............ 40mm . . ............ 45mm . ............ . 65mm
    LF. . ............ 60mm . . ............ 53mm . . ............ 48mm. . ............ 60mm
Just to compare with other brands..
    Bilby . . ............ 68mm . . ............ 45mm . . ............ 44mm . . ............ 92mm
    Bata . . ............ 60mm . . ............ 53mm . . ............ 50mm . . ............ 84mm

Sole bond for Aldi product we had to hand failed at 40 LBS, should reach min 65LBS, Bilby product passed at 68 LBS, Bata went past 70 with its stitched on sole.

No shank to be found in the Aldi Zagz product, heel cavity has a piece of wood in it, with no sole over it, covered by 1mm footbed.

The "Leather" upper is PU coated, not full grain.

It must be said the size for the product to hand is correct, the Adli's Zaga size 2 is an accurate size 2.

In my opinion, this product will not support an orthosis or any child with a high arch due to the throat size, which may cause problems in gait as the tongue pushes in to the ankle.

For true testing 6 pair should be tested and the average taken, these result are of a single pair we purchased.

Sorry pics didnt load up here they are.

You can see the difference in the back height and the sides in the first pic quite clearly

It should be noted that wood in a heel is done in some cheap products, but l have found they are normally covered by a 4-5mm layer of the soling compound

Thanks for that Dave, was interested to see people's thoughts. I have no doubt I will see many come through the doors over the next few months.

    No problems Cylie

l had a few ask and l thought here would be quickest way to answer all.

You will know them when they get to your office, sore heels and smelly feet thanks to the shallow piece of wood and thick PU coating on the leather.

Side note; l have just made the smallest pair of school shoes l have made, size 5, the clients foot is 135mm long, not sure how she will cope with a school bag.

But very cute never the less
