    Hello All,
My post is similar to one below to be honest. I'll be a first yr in Sept and looking to choose between Brighton (Eastbourne) and Salford. Having been to both I really like them but for different reasons and ultimately would be happy at either.

My main concern is which course will open up the most possibilities I guess whether that be immediate employability or ongoing study somewhere.

I get the feeling with Salford being more heavily populated there may be more practical experience but Brighton has its own hospital so I guess that isn't a given.

Salford may be more "state of the art" facilities-wise than most according to other posts. Thats also appealing since its good to be at the cutting edge (pun alert) but I was also really impressed with the course content, facilities and feel at Brighton.

I'm putting quality of life etc to one side here a bit as I think they balance each other out so preferably looking for anyone with direct experience of either course really so I can decide which is the best one to go for. :dizzy:

Hi Matt1976 & a very BIG :welcome::welcome::welcome: to Podiatry Arena,

Very glad to have you aboard.

As I studied at Huddersfield I cannot give insight into either of your preferred choices.

Just jumped in to wish you every success in the future, whichever you decide.

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.

PS. If 1976 is your date of birth? Many thanks

I am now well over the hill. ;)

    Hi Matt,

I studied in Brighton uni and graduated last July. Im now working in a private practice.

As I live in London, I didnt know whether to go to Brighton or UEL. After going to both open days, I found Brighton the best place for me to study. It just felt right and speaking to some of the lecturers and current students, my mind was made after the opening day. Course is quite intense with the addition of clinics running every week but you do get a social life too! You also get to go out to external placements. Be prepared for dissection in the first year which I was a bit squeamish but thoroughly enjoyed as it made everything more clear. With there being a smaller class, it felt like a close knit family.

Good luck to which ever uni you decide and all the best in your future role as a Podiatrist.

    Shin

Thanks for the welcome Mandy :drinks Yeah that's my d.o.b this is a career change for me so pretty exciting, bit daunting too in some ways so just want to make the right decision.

and thanks Shin yeah I applied to UEL too and they do look good but I think living in London's gonna be a little too expensive.

I really like the sound of dissection, that's a real selling point for me instinctively. Partly because I'm squeamish and I want to get over it as quickly as poss and partly because I reckon its unique and something you wouldn't get from an anatomy book.
