hi, we have been given a privsional timetable and it states tues and wed have no lectures or something called 'breakaway training'. does anyone know what this breakaway training is? also, does that mean tues and wed are study at home days? im also asking for childcare, as ill have both children covered for the day, the after school carre is costing a fortune so if they are study t home days then i can do that but still collect them at home time

    Hi Wizadora1979

I am just about to go into the 3rd year at Northampton. The Breakaway training is basically self defence, a good way to get to know everyone too :)

If you're on Facebook take a look at this group, we have just set it up for all the years so we can all communicate with each other, ask questions or generally have a moan.....

You'll have to ask to join the group and Aimee in our year will prob just send you a message to confirm that you're on the course.

As for the days when you don't have lectures, if my memory serves me right they were study days. Comes in very handy with the school run!!

Give me a shout if you need anything.

    thanks abi,

ive just send a request to the group.

can i also ask, are you usually split into groups for the course ? im car sharing with another pod student so we a little concerned about that. and the timetables dont seem to allow for different groups.

sorry, ive got soo many questions!

    Hi Kim,

Yeah you are split into groups, but only for when you're working in the clinic (I can't remember if the groups started in year 2 though, because when you do eventually start treating proper patients, usually after xmas you'll be working with roughly 4-5 students to each patient), everything else is done as a whole year group. But the lecturers are fine, just explain about the car share.

Tip for before you start, try and learn as many bones and muscles of the lower limb as possible. The list seems never ending. Trust me, it will take the pressure off loads, especially when you start on the vasular and nervous system... :)
