    Hi all,

I am a second year podiatry student and recently have been reading around the subject of charcot joint disease. I understand there are two forms: atrophic and hypertrophic.
I am struggling to find an explanation that can provide me with a good understanding of the 'atrophic' aspect of this joint disease; which from my reading appears to linked primarily to diabetic patients and brought on by hyperaemia...... but why ???

I would be very grateful of any information, links, papers etc regarding the aetiopathology of charcot joint disease in relation to the diabetic foot.

    Thanks guy's
