What is the BACKGROUND OF AN aUSTRALIAN pODIATRIST?
hAS HE PERFORMED PRIOR TO PODIATRY SCHOOL AS WELL AS AN md?

a dr DEGREE HANDED OUT TO SOMEONE WHO IS NOT AS BRIGHT AS AN md dR IS DANGEROUS.

We have the same problem in the US not all Podiatrists are "Dr.s"

But we are approaching equivalency and therefore increasing respect from MDs.

What is the training for a Podiatrist before he can practice in Australia?

well I was generally referring to the fact that if we continue to NOT have support from AMA to future developments that ultimately benefit the profession and enhance scope of practice then we are losing a political war. there are so many more MDs than there are pods.

Why are not all podiatrists doctors in the US?

well in Australia there are a few ways, firstly the standard 4 year undergraduate degree with optional 12 months postgraduate training for prescribing medications,

then there is one university offering the 3-4 year Doctor of Podiatric Medcine, postgraduate requiring a GAMSAT entrance exam

then if surgery is your wish then its an extra 4 years doing the DCP surgical degree
