Martin Reif and Jim Fitzpatrick are proposing a reunion of the Crookston Road Crew on Sunday 25th September at the Pines. If you are interested in attending contact Martin (MCReid@pkc.gov.uk) or Jim (razrexd@hotmail.com)

I have nothing to do with this but is it Crookston Road, near Barrhead/Pollock?

Back in the dark and dim days prior to Glasgow Caladonian there was a School of Chiropody at Crookston Road . The local pub was The Pines down towards Paisley Road West. Me thinks it is the 40th Anniversary of the openning of the old school , and hence the reunion.

I grew up in Barrhead so I know the area. Never knew there was a school of Chiropody there. I believe that would be around about where the Ross Hall hospital is now and I think the Pines pub is still there although I could be wrong

Hope everyone has a good time at the reunion

The Pines was directly opposite the hospital and the School was further along towards Nitshill, same side as the Hospital and sandwiched between a youth care facility and Crookston old folks home. Originally the old school had been in Windsor Terrace (back of Sauchiehall Street, Maryhill end) but moved over the city to accommodate a growing student population. As a stop gap we did some practical work at Leverndale Mental Hospital (now gone?) and moved into the Crookston Road facility, which was then, a purpose designed boutique centre for podiatry education which included multi chaired clinical facility, orthotic laboratories, classrooms and library etc., etc - the first of a new era. The building was single story and cheaply put together however and it was a wonder it lasted so long. By the end the local kids had broken in so many times by kicking the walls in it was in a pretty sad state but it had served its community very well for all that.

I will post a picture of the old place.
