Floor contamination?

Discussion in 'General Issues and Discussion Forum' started by Thek, Jan 15, 2009.

  1. Alternatively, you could do what I and many of my colleagues have done, pay for the floor to be covered in a suitable material yourself. If your landlord objects to the carpet being removed, then something like this is probably your best option: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/range/guid/5C8D771D-932B-4F79-8842-E7AB6804C495

  2. Here's another one for you, Mark: patient sits on chair, takes off shoes and hose and stands on floor. Patient transfers to sit down on the "big boys chair". Chiropodist disinfects patients feet with disinfectant wipes / spray. Are the patients feet cleaner or dirtier now than before they stood on your floor? Chiropodists operates then post-operatively disinfects feet with disinfectant wipes/ spray. Chiropodist assists patient to put on shoes / hose while still sitting on afore mentioned "big boys chair". Patient stands down clad in the protective environment of their own footwear, which incidentally is likely to contain more "groobies" than chiropodists floor anyway. Job done, problem solved, go back to sleep Chiropodist, we've worked it all out for you.:bash:

"Are you flaming me?" Sounds like the scene from "The Twilight Zone" Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room (1960), that Bob De Niro allegedly ripped off for the "you talking to me?" scene from Taxi Driver (1976). Are you flaming me? No, but I did just call your mother a whore. Have a nice day.

    Dear Kevin and Simon

A little off topic but what do you guys use to treat stubborn verruca?
The latest cochrane review here in Oz recommends caustics and gives em a mid 70% success rate.
    Thanx in advance

  4. Commonly, I will refer patients to the Cochrane review and advise on suitable OTC preparations. V.P.'s are not really my bag, if a patient is insistent on professional intervention, I'll point them in the direction of someone who likes verrucca management.

Good to see you putting some common-sense comments into this thread. Sometimes I wonder about what is being taught in podiatry schools around the world.....

Far too much "touchy-feely" rubbish , and not enough fundamental clinical skills development on how to actually *fix* patients - in my humble opinion.

However, I sense this in most new medical graduates I encounter just as strongly - so i think podiatry is not alone on this. It is endemic to most education areas I am told - by people who know more about these things than I.

OK thanks for challenging my theory. Glad to be set straight, now I see the light.

  10. Your DVD collection is incomplete without it. We used to play "drink along a Withnail and I" when I was doing my PhD. Matching them drink for drink. Hint: replace the lighter fluid with sambuca unless you're feeling uber brave- in reality Richard E. Grant didn't know what was going to be in the lighter fluid can when he drank it in the movie; it was vinegar.

I just ordered the 'uncut' dvd from amazon. Think I'll start a 'best movies / best novels you've seen / read' thread.
Excellent. Somewhat off the track, 3 decades and some years ago at my first attempt at uni (uNSW Science/PT) I succeeded, twice, in beating all other comers in the "Iron Stomach" race. The course, over ~ 5 km's, slightly uphill all the way, was punctuated with 10 or so stops along the way where one was expected to consume both drink (different types of alcoholic beverages or milk) and eat (cream buns filled with oysters, chocolate-covered hard boiled eggs, dog food etc) and perform some act (the one I remember most easily is having to crawl along under a heavy ship's net through a good foot thick layer of horse manure!
Now to put up some shade for my plants (expecting 40degC again today like most of south-eastern Aust), mark

this thread cheered me up on a cold and wet sunday afternoon, I am looking forward to getting my patients to take a run and jump onto my chair !!!!!! I imagine they will tell me to take a run and jump, and possibly look for another chiropodist, especially when I have cut the toes of their tights off, without any consultation..............................:D

Richard E Grant is teetotal, and had to be taken on a bender by the director prior to filming to appreciate what it felt like to have ten pints on board :drinks

The teachers and theoreticians are winning the race towards creating a clinical environment that bears no relationship to reality....

  15. Is it just me, or, are students just crap these days? I've not even been able to buy a rag mag for many years, despite living in a "university town". Too busy with their binge drinking I suspect. Kids, who'd 'av 'em?;):D
