    Most definitely Craig, and I have worked for a couple in the past.

    There are quite a few in Health Management and probably even more in academia, especially research.

    I've read two books on this topic which are well worth a look if this sort of stuff interests you.

    * The Wisdom of Psychopaths
    * Snakes in Suits

    Can't recall the authours off the top of my head as books are on shelf at home, but they are just an amazon search away

    I am reliably informed that the surviving fellows and members of IADBASK are almost without exception the only professional group who, to a man, can never be trapped in a moral maze.

    Bill.

    For those who have forgotten IADBASK (Normally pronounced to sound like three seperate word, ie I Add Bask) is the International Association of Disembowelers, Bloodbathers and Serial Killers

    I believe that the successful Psychopath is not a psychopath per se but rather carries within himself the psychopathic aspect when necessary. Most of us have a myarid of aspects of our total being and the psychopathic aspect is just one of many to deal with life's challenges.

    I know what you mean but I don't think it qualifies as psychopathy.

    Psychopathy is permanent. It's not something that is turned off and on. There is no volume control.

    Undoubtedly many men/women can turn down/off their feelings under certain circumstances for a period of time. Unfortunately the non-psychopath eventually suffers from remorse, depression, ie feelings, whether negative or positive, associated with the event.

    There may be a descriptive term to cover those who are most able to turn down/off their feelings but it isn't psychopath successful or otherwise.

    Do you have to be a member of a profession to be a psychopath?

    A Psychopath is simply someone who lacks empathy. Enduring characteristic. Unlikely something you can switch on and off. Guilt would eventually catch up with most people. But not the Psychopaths.

    Whatever the profession or occupation I would expect the proportion of those scoring high in psychopathy to increase the higher up the structure you go.

    Well, you know how it is in a madhouse, one who has put on a white coat first is claimed to be the doctor.
