Planning permission

The time has come for me to wind down some. So I am considering renting a house and setting up a practice for a couple of days per week.

A house rather than a shop for various reasons. Mostly as I intend it to be a proper residence, and I don't want to live above a shop.

Any ideas about needing planning permission for change of use? Does it take long, or do you just do it and wait to appeal against a request to desist?

    Thanks for any advice. :)

Depends where you are. It can take up to 6 or so months with our local council.
