    There is a saying, in buddism:
    How you interpret what someone says to you, is a reflection of your own mind.

    Social, cultural and educational influences, as well as individual personality traits, will always influence our perceptions of what we see and hear.

    Politics, here in Australia, the accusations of media bias, especially of the public outlet (ABC), from both 'sides' are a regular feature. Would have to be universal, certainly also in the USA.
