Large bump on arch of foot.

Hello, asking for a close friend. Its been month or two now but she was rubbing her foot in the arch area and felt a painful spot kind of in the arch, close the the heel. There was nithing there before but since then, the area has swollen and is painful for her. Pain is inconsistant though. Sometimes worse than other times..but always some sort of pain. Looked on Google and found something about plantar fibrosis? But symptoms for that don't all meet with what she is experiencing. Can anybody...
