I have just finished an international DFCA I. (Diabetic Foot Care Assistant I.) training. The program and teachers were so amazing, that I could easily decide- this is what I wanna do!
But the problem is, in my country (Slovenia, EU) there aren't any real possibilities to find a job. Since I speak english and have been in London many times, I would love to find myself a job in London. Can anyone give me some directions or info on profession like mine, where to start, where to apply?? Respect! espela..

try tierra del fuego contact the argentinian embassy london. joking aside there are few oportunities for you in london as footcare assistants earn fairly basic salaries and rents in london are some of the highest in the world.you could not live in london on your pay you would never be able to buy a house even if you worked 100 hours per week i think the pay is around 14000 per year so dont bother leaving your beautiful cheap to live country

dear espela i have just googled the website of the international working group on the diabetic foot. whos course you have completed. it states the course is only of use in countries without podiatry and is a course for other healthcare providers to provide diabetic foot advice in their respective countries therefor it would have no validity or use in the uk and it would be impossible to be renumerated by the state in the uk . in short nobody will pay for your knowledge in the uk we dont need it. it is for undeveloped economies.

i think your english needs some work. ps no riots near me thank the gods. good luck . ps less talk about my behind its not polite.ps you mean racist which i certainly am not . just because your qualification is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike in britain. dont blame me perhaps you should have done some research before you embarked on this course it took me 20 seconds on google to understand it is useless in the uk. Im not blue or sad and never eat fish and gravy not since university anyhow.

    Dear Espela,

Fishpod was trying to be witty.

Anyway to treat a persons foot in the UK you need absolutely no training what so ever.

You rent premises, set up shop and put your certificate in the window.

And you can then charge anybody who visits you.:butcher:

    This is Private Practice.

However if you wish to work within The national health service your qualification is valueless.

However if you can find an NHS Trust that is employing anciliary staff you could apply to become a footcare assistant / podiatry assistant.

You would then be put on the training program and when successful you could then be employed in that capacity. Salary scale would be Agenda For Change Band 2,3 or 4 dependent on skill and training and responsibility.

You would work under the authority and instruction of a Podiatrist and have almost no autonomy.

The salary would enable you to rent a comfortable dustbin in a less than comfortable part of london.

However living in a less expensive part of UK your salary would go further.

Seriously though there are more opportunities of employment as a Nursing Auxiliary, Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Better still become a Dental Surgeons Assistant.

However if you are serious about becoming a Podiatrist you will need 3 A Levels or equivalent and go to one of the universities training Podiatrists and spend x thousands of your pounds and do this for between 3 and 4 years doing the training.
