    Hiya, just after some info on working in Australia. I currently work in uk with nhs but considering moving with my family to australia. Any advice on the job Market would be much appreciated. My wife has an uncle in NSW so hence why that may be a nice place to investigate. Are my uk qualifications suitable? how does sponsorship work?

    Thanks in advance to anyone who posts some info.;)

    Hi Manjpod,

    Below is some information on how you become registered to work in Australia as a Podiatrist

    As a qualified UK Podiatrist it is quite easy to be eligible to work in Australia.

    Firstly have you had your qualifications assessed by ANZPAC and do you have registration with AHPRA?

    If not you will need to get your qualifications assessed prior to working, please see the links below;

    Next issue is visas, if you are under 30 then the working holiday visa, if you are over 30 then the highly skilled visa or if you would consider working in remote locations you may be considered for sponsorship. Sponsorship has to be offered by the employer, some will offer sponsorship to UK residents as it is sometimes difficult to find Podiatrists in some areas.

    Once you have these, then you can look at work options. If you are happy to work in regional locations to start off with, then it will be easier to get you a job. Areas like Sydney and Melbourne, there is so much tough competition it does make it harder. The more flexible you are, the easier it will be.

    You will need to finance yourself to get here, some jobs will provide interstate flights i.e land in Sydney but they will fly you to Darwin etc.

    Have a look into the registration and if you are serious about coming over, get the process started, once your application is in, keep me updated and I will start looking for roles for you as i work for a company who require Podiatrists. I currently have 4 jobs i am looking to fill two in Queensland.

    Hope this helps keep me updated

    Look into permanent residency. There is loads of info on this site, but if you have the points criteria, I would go for that. PR means you are not beholden to anyone or held to ransom with cancellation of the visa's.

    There are jobs for Pods in NSW, but easier if you already have the paperwork sorted.

    I came out from the UK almost 7 yrs ago and wouldn't change it for anything. I was lucky and sponsored out on regional visa was given PR residency straight away, contracted for two years and luckily I was very happy, stayed for 6 years!

    You are welcome to PM me if you need anymore info.

    Cheers
    Esher
