    Hi,

I am currently working in Saudi Arabia. The best entry into the Middle East is through an agency plenty out there just google where your favoured location is. I have heard that UAE rates of pay taking into account cost of living etc are similar to UK take home. Make sure to factor this in when negogiating remuneration and be hard with your negogiations.

There is a lot of cash here, but what you find is that arabs do not like parting with it, have a high value of your services, stick to your price and fight your corner. Some ammunition for your armery:

as high as 49% of the population in areas has diabetes.

there is no podiatry colleges/universities anywhere in the area.

these countries although with lots of money are classed as third world, that means they all have third world education, health care etc. You have a first world education, knowledge of health care and that is valued.

wage structures are not like UK banding etc, different prices for differing nationalites, education and ability to negogiate. Don't back down be a strong personality, UK, US, Canada most valued your in the driving seat very little podiatrist and its good old supply and demand.

I would be expecting contract wise:

same salary as your expected banding in UK upper limit

    15% cost of living allowance

annually bonus (one month) resigning bonus (one month)

accomodation, all bills paid, transport to and from hospital

    40 days annual leave

return flight every six months to the UK or equivalent

That is the basic contract in Saudi Arabia, I hear it is less in other Arab nations but have no experience.

    Good luck

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Thank you very much for your message. Very helpful. I will google job agencies in S.Arabia. Are you based in Riyahd or closer to the water? Also wanted to ask you whether these job agencies ask for fees and if so how much I would be expected to pay them?

    Hi tundygap,

Don't look for KSA agencies just agencies that supply KSA. I am in the eastern province of KSA about 2 hours from Bahrain if I fancy some relative freedom. In terms of fees you will have to pay for medical and visa etc initially but expect a full reimbursement by the agency they should get paid by the employer not by you. Ask about this and if not the case move onto a different agency, worldwide recession so you are in the driving seat.

    Good luck with the search

    Hi,
I am a French podiatrist willing to work in the middle east.
I am specialised in diabetes, and would like to know if you had any tips regarding recruitment agencies or any contact in KSA I could send my CV.
Do you think sending directly to hospitals could work?
    Thanks for your help
