I have been in contact with the BNF on our behalf as our prescribing rights are not published.

I felt this would cause problems later with pharmacists unaware of our exemptions and possibly refusing to dispense drugs.

Therefore after discussions they are looking into this with a view to Podiatrists being listed alongside Dentists and the Nurse formulary.

Below is the letter I have received from the BNF team.

    Mr Fox

A preliminary meeting has been held at which this issue was discussed. From an editorial perspective we think it makes sense to treat podiatrists' prescribing rights in a similar fashion to those of nurses and dentists within the BNF. However, management board approval is required before we action this and we will not be able to seek this until mid-March at the earliest. If approval is forthcoming then it is likely that we would action this change for BNF 54 to be published in September 2007. We still have some issues to investigate, but at this early stage of development this is the likely timeframe.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

MIMS have redesigned their additions for the needs of Podiatry.
    One down one to go.
Just awaiting the BNF now, they said they were looking into it when I proposed it to them a few months ago.
I have spoke to Colin at the BNF again and am awaiting a reply.
