Short foot exercise for functional ankle instability

    In the study mentioned above , Kim JS et al state -

    " It is difficult to perform the exact SFE without the compensatory movements of the extrinsic muscles, such as the tibialis anterior, strengthening the intrinsic muscle selectively. Therefore, we suggest that SFE may require training with feedback to prevent compensatory movements and achieve correct posture for flexible flat feet. "

    In my opinion the visual feedback mechanism used by the authors will likely encourage activation of the extrinsic foot muscles , such as the tibialis anterior , not discourage . This may be no bad thing .
