Advice please, UK pod looking to work in the US

Hi, Im looking for advice please. I am a UK podiatrist. Im looking to migrate to the US (specifically Indiana or South East Illinois) in a couple of years. I would like to work as a Medical Assistant. I have 20 years experience, last 5 1/2 as a diabetes specialist podiatrist. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to whether I can do this, any training I can do and just general advice I would be so grateful.

Hi, I would think you have a few options: 1) go to an American DPM programme. You would need to see the prereqs and sit the Medical College Admission Text. Long road but many in you situation have done it. The curriculum is very different from non-US podiatry courses and it would be enjoyable though and you are a podiatric physician when done. If you have a residence visa you could do residency training as well.
2) Do nursing. There are many nursing programmes in universities and perhaps some community colleges. Nursing is always in high demand and your skills would be useful. I under stand soem online learning to start might be possible.
3) There have been some Podiatry Assistant programmes in the past. Again at Community Colleges. Nursing also qualifies you for this.

Just some thoughts.
