A few years ago, Kevin Kirby posted a poem about children. I copied it, put it with a photo of my little girl who was 3 months old, and gave it to my wife for Christmas. The tears flowed.

    I have enclosed a poem someone sent to me; I thought that somebody might want to use it for Fathers Day;

    “Walk a little slower Daddy”
    said a child so small,
    "I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast
    Sometimes they're hard to see
So walk a little slower, Daddy
    For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
    You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
    Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right
And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
    For I must follow you."

happy fathers day to all dads this weekend

    Oh dear,

Thats me off yet another Chrimbo list I guess.

You see Dave, I am but a poor wee half orphan :boohoo:

No more daddy days for lil ole me <sniff>

    ~place sympathy votes here~

However, I would still love a Mini Cooper <S> Top of the range, soft top, wire wheels & leather seats.

U can be 'daddy' if u like ;)

    Dear Twirly ,

Is that the real Mini Cooper S with the 1071 cc short stroke engine from the early 1970's.

    Or the BMW ?:boohoo:

Over priced glorified shopping trolley with small back seats and no where to put your handbag.

Now here in Aus we have real mens cars.:drinks

    HSV Holden VE Commodore GTS

    HSV Holden VE Commodore R8

    Ford XR 6 Turbo
One of the fastest cars on sale in Aus and only $46,000.00 which is $15k less than a full house Cooper S.:drinks

    Ford XR 8

Ford FPV turbo 6 the F6
More power than XR 6 turbo but heavier so slower.

    Ford FPV V8 the GT
again more power but heavier so slower than XR 6 turbo.

Best bang for your buck car on sale in Aus today goes to the FORD XR 6 turbo.

In order to buy a performance car quicker you need to spend at least another $100,000.00

    I want one.:empathy:

It was reviewed in the latest issue July 2008 of MOTOR here in aus.

    go to: ford.com.au

    regards David

    Dear Twirly,

I have just read your last post again and Hmmmmm

I believe that is the best offer i have had all day even all week.

But hey i want all the privileges but none of the bills.;)

trouble is is that i would not want to be a passenger in a MiNi Cooper s Cabriolet.

I need a car with more Testosterone if you catch my drift. Not a limp wristed girls car.

Hang on i am becoming an Aussie Bogan .

    regards David

ps yes i am bored as it is somewhat chilly here in Sydney this evening, i have my heater on full blast and i am still freezing to death. It is actually warmer outside than in my little "student" flat. Houses here are freezing.

Still a hot shower and a Boily Bot for my trotters and she,ll be right and Fair Dinkum.

    Dearest Dave,

Alas I think you Ozzies pay a tad less for go juice than us Brits.

Currently the Shell (other rip off merchants are available {see govt.}) tanker drivers are out on strike. I'm right behind them too. Hope they get their pay deal.

Soon we'll all be on bikes instead of cars. :boohoo:

Chelsea tractors (AKA 4 x 4) will soon be the dinosaurs of the mythological past. :sinking:

Am considering putting a dom bag attachment onto the lawn mower to save fuel.

Aw well, at least it's sunny in Blighty & the houses are like toast.

As for the Mini being 'girly' it goes like stink & corners like it's on rails babe.

    Leaves u boys standing. ;)

Nope, she cried because she saw the love and sentiment behind the gesture, which I hope to have conveyed in this message, rather than the vision of capitalism which you cleary cherish.

    One again, Happy Fathers Day.

    Hello Peter,

I wish you a very happy fathers day.

I can only apologise if my attempt at humour made you uncomfortable. That was not my intention I assure you.

Many people cannot or do not celebrate fathers day for varied reasons.

My quip was a light hearted note sent in humour not commercial malice.

Again I apologise if you took offence at what I intended to be light hearted humour.

    Regards,
