Hey everyone,

Im thinking about making the big move to the UK. I have a years experience and plan to be over there in 8 months time.

I was just wondering how I go about apply for podiatry jobs. Is it best to join a recruitment agency? are there any jobs being offered?

I have a bachelors degree in Podiatry and was wondering do i have to undergo any additional training to work over there?

And any other information you guys can give me would be much appreciated.

Hi. I just wondered if you had any work lined up for when you come to the UK? Also did you find out if there were any restrictions for coming to work in the UK from Oz?

Hi - keep checking on here as people often advertise new jobs. Also it is worth contacting your local hospital when you arrive to see if you can do relief or 'bank' work in their Podiatry department. The other good website to check out is NHS jobs website. Every NHS podiatry position should be advertised here. Also Shuropody is a national chain of private practices and they are often looking for locum or full time podiatrists too. Good luck with your travels.

 

I've just done the move from australia to London too. I'm a bit worried that I've been out of the field and little bit and my knowlege and skills aren't as good. I am with an agency but I don't really want to say that I want a low skill job to begin with and if thats possible. All jobs in London seem to be high expertise needed

 

hi you will be fine skills wise. Nz and Australian pods are just as qualified as a UK pod they just tend to have different terms and more specialised areas eg diabetes, BMX etc.
best is to go through an agency as the pay is better for locums and they have good connections.
make sure you get your HPc done in advance as it can take up to 6 months. and try get your Tb vaccination and hep B blood tests doen ebfotre you go to save time and money.
youll ahve to do health and safety in the Uk but it can all be arrnaged easily and fsaster if you ahve everything in place before hand.
dont be afraid to sign up to more than more recrutiment agency also.
but podiatry arena is a good way to find jobs too.
any help you need feel free ask as i have been here 6 months now and i wish more people had given me heads up on little things too.
by the way be prepared to be paid less than austrlalia but the experience is excellent.
