Threads recommended for students

As Stated by David Smith on His “New Goals for Podiatric Biomechanics” Thread recommended on this thread for students:
“Obviously some seriously doubt the validity of the Root STJ neutral theory and measuring foot angles and positions as has been highlighted by recent discussions. Is the tide of opinion turning and are we being too slow to evolve for the future. If too many learned and well known podiatrists and establishments insist on sticking with the Dogma of Root is the only model, Kevin Kirby, Craig Payne, DanenBurgh, Eric Fuller et al will be fighting a difficult battle. Am I being too dramatic? I think not.”

I personally cannot agree more and since unlike him, I continue to not be able to absorb the language and the expanding yet unproven questions that the models of rotational equilibrium, tissue stress and saggital plane progression produce that act as a diversion for clinical development and application which is where I subjectively opine that this paradigm falls short. Furthermore, there are many others who cannot grasp the complexity of your paradigm.

I ask one simple question to all students The Arena from the new convert all the way up to Dr. Kirby, what if this method, like Dr’ Roots is eventually proven flawed and none others have been examined?

In reviewing the list of recommended threads for students, I find that purposefully leaving out other paradigms that have been raised from “Root Doubt” and have developed a following should be examined as they may offer additional direction or insight and if nothing else, would keep the developing paradigm honest. Bullying them from your radar screen and denying them exposure is not very scientific or academic.

Every time I see a posting from Dr. Kirby stating that a comment made is “100% right”, it makes me shudder to think where that type of subjective power when applied to students looking for a new direction over many years can lead an academic community.

I am currently involved on an Arena thread called Functional Foot Typing that has over 2000 viewings.

It reflects another new and fresh paradigm of biomechanics called Neoteric Biomechanics.

I wonder why this site and others like it (if they exist) aren’t included as recommended for students in order to air adjacent theories?

What if practicing Neoteric Biomechanics, a more simplistic approach to foot and postural care, allowed some of those those involved to become desirous of examining an even more complex approach and seriously took a look at yours. Wouldn’t it serve a purpose?

Shouldn’t there be academic freedom in academia?

Five months ago, The Editor wrote in reply to my posting stating that other points of view were being denied exposure to the open minds of students and new practitioners on this thread and that this is dangerous to free thinking.

Incidently, we may be getting rid of this Threads recommended for students all together. This thread was started before we implemented the thread tags. There is one on clinical biomechanical theories, of which the thread on Functional Foot Typing is part of. The thread tags have sort of superseded the need for threads that collect recommended threads.

As I saw it all the aforementioned threads were locked once the discussions drifted away from the thought provoking in-depth discussion of merits/limitations of various theories that was intended, and became nothing more than exchanges of insults between the differing 'camps'.

Contrary to what you believe most of us are more than happy to listen to and discuss new ideas; and free thought is encouraged on this forum - not stifled as you suggest. What most people here won't tolerate is paradigms or theories which their 'inventor' seems unable or unwilling to answer questions about when asked, as he appears to only be here to defame others and promote his own financial gain.

You may also be interested to know that 'the editor' of this website fully acknowledges you and covers your theory/paradigm during his very highly regarded bootcamps. So you may still get to rule the world one day...
