Isn't this exactly what Sidas etc are already doing?
The only 'USP' is that they are defining the insole properties based on length/deformation ratio - I don't think they have a snowflakes in hells chance!

    Aloha Kevin,

    Yes, starting at $1253.00

Which ASTM or SATRA safety standard would you wish us to use to justify the expense?

Mahalo and thanks for the feedback,

  11. These ASTM and SATR safety standards could also be met by putting a good old piece of sheet metal, costing less than $5, in the sole of the shoe.

I find it amazing how these podiatrists:

    Steven King
    Dennis Shavelson
    Brian Rothbart
    Ed Glaser

...who have a financial interest in a product try to justify the benefit of their product by using all manners of odd logic and all types of unbelievable claims.

Should we start a new thread on how to recognize these people?

    Proposed thread title:

How to Recognize Bogus Claims Made by Podiatrists

  12. I'm familiar with SATRA and the tests they perform; one of my friends worked there for a while and helped to develop their "sweating foot" jig. However, I'm more interested in some of the other advertising claims made on the website, as might the ASA be. Specifically:
    "World Records Set: 001

    Race Records Set: 00001"

and: "Our custom fit carbon fiber spring orthotic is lightweight, puncture resistant, and will enhance your performance". There's a class action waiting to happen.

As it's Christmas, the season of good-will to all men, perhaps I'll contact the ASA and see what they can uncover.:santa:

    Also from the site:
"The Kigetics spring orthotic comes integrated with the G.U.S. boot"

Nice work fella :morning: And all the poxy tag lines you've added to your posts here not withstanding, accuracy and spelling never were your things, were they Stevie?

"I'll tell you what..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3bhVDdLeBg Chown for a clown... Ba, ba, boom.

    Aloha Kevin,

You are very keen, we did do that research. It is listed in the Spring Orthotic Device patent that you have failed yet "to get" and that this string is somewhat about...

"These ASTM and SATR safety standards could also be met by putting a good old piece of sheet metal, costing less than $5, in the sole of the shoe." --also sheet metal is too soft for this application.

And thank you for putting me at the head of the renegade podiatrist list, i could be in no finer company.

  14. LoL, thick as Sh!t. I'm sure you did that on purpose- not. "but, but, but"... Whatever. Here's a toilet seat, but which way around should you sit on it, Stevie? Anyway, back to the advertising standards agency... In fact, lets keeping linking your website here: http://www.kingetics.com/ , internet advertising, don't you just love it! Just a shame there are rules you have to abide by.

Here's top of my list when I google "kingetics" http://biomch-l.isbweb.org/threads/22267-Kingetics-has-been-Excomunicated-from-Biomch-L

  15. Simon:

Thanks for the above. It made my day. Now Steven King compares himself to Galileo?!

What a joke! He's more like Brian Rothbart to me....Rothbart's Foot....Kingetics...

Steven, you are hopeless. Why don't you just go somewhere else to sell your $1,200+ boots? We would all greatly appreciate it.

    Aloha Simon,

Yep, i am a bit of a renagade over at BioMCH-L as well.

When are you and Drew going to finish your professional rebutal to the "Kingetic Challange"? -that there is no faster-lighter-safer orthotic system on the planets

Please read the patent and understand the high school physics/mechancis therein so we may start behaving more like professionals together... and start helping and protecting people together.

    Steve,

Like Simon I am intruiged as to the "statistics" on your homepage:

What world record and race record are you claiming?

And how do you intend to identify potential feet, legs and lives you have "saved"???

  22. Steve:

Proper medical professional behavior does not include interjecting self-promotional ads for a medical product into scientific or academic medical websites for the sole reason of advertising their product for their financial gain. Your constant plugging of your insoles and products on Podiatry Arena and even on Biomech-L is nothing more than a shameless attempt by you to advertise your product in the hopes that you will benefit financially from your intrusions onto academic medical and scientific websites.

If you want to behave like a professional, Steve, then you will quit mentioning your products on our website and quit putting those absolutely stupid slogans that you have created for your company "Kingetics" at the end of all your postings. When you can do that for a full 12 months, then I may possibly consider that you are beginning to learn the true meaning of being a "professional". Until then, I will consider you no more than a desperate salesman of an overpriced and useless product.

  23. I don't think you are seen by others as a renegade, neither here nor on Biomech-L. There are lots of adjectives that I ascribe to you, but renegade isn't one of them.
I suspect you mean "challenge", but as I've already pointed out, accuracy is not something you excel at. So, ignoring the school boy errors in research design and the spelling errors within your statements, lets see if we can make some sense shine through here. In order to answer your "challange" you will first need to quantitatively assess and state:

    a) the speed of your orthotics. I'm guessing that if we put a pair of your orthotics on a table and set them up for a race against any other pair of orthotics, we could leave them there for eternity and neither pair of orthotics would move very far; barring earth-quacks. Viz. orthoses are not fast. If I give a pair of polypropylene orthoses to an astronaut to wear during their next launch, would they then be faster than yours? :bash: Unless you can provide us with data from a series of individuals to demonstrate that their performance, in terms of running speed was enhanced while wearing your insoles, compared to every other kind of insole on the planet, Dr Steven King of Kingetics? You do have that data-right? Otherwise only a fool would make such claims in their marketing of a product.

    b) The weight of your orthotics- lightest? Looking at your picture this is highly doubtful to say the least, I can make a 3/4 shell for a small child out of >1mm carbon-fibre, you've got a full-length plate with knobs on it, then a chunky 3/4 length device on top. How heavy are your devices? Again, you can support that statement though, right Steve? Otherwise, people such as the ASA might take a dark view of such marketing claims.

    c) That your orthotics are safer- exactly how are you measuring and quantifying this? Again, you need to be pretty sure of statements like this when used in marketing. Can you supply data in which your orthotics have been compared to all other foot orthotics to determine their "safety"? No, is the answer you are looking for. Specifically, what tests did SATRA perform on your foot orthoses? Again, we need this information and the data from these tests to make comparisons.

When you provide the required data sets, we can draw comparison. Until such time... Can Dr Steven King of Kingetics justify any of his self-created hype? No.

We all know that, which is why you are not viewed as a renegade; rather you are regarded as something very different here.

Read it ages ago. I clearly understand the physics. Moreover, I can accurately spell "mechanics", whereas you obviously can't. Which quite frankly makes me question your general level of intelligence and knowledge base. As for professional? You wouldn't know professional if it hit you in the face, Dr Steven King of Kingetics.

    Aloha Simon,

I am glad you are starting to formulate your testing protocal. Let's start by testing any combat boot worn by our honorable soldiers and Royal Marines.

    a. Over any distance over any terrain (including on tuned tracks).
--it would be difficult to judge the fastest car as well if it did not have a driver...

    b. Yes a standard size should be choosen for weight testing, What is your shoe size?

    c. Please use the ASTM F2413 - 05 Standard Test Methods for Foot Protection for puncture resistance.

Now please rank the boots in each catagory and from highest to lowest. Create a summation of all the factors (fastest-lightest-safest) and report back to us please when you have your results.

Craig before this string spins off into oblivion do you understand what is being proposed in the patent?

  25. Steve:

It is up to you, not up to Simon, to do these tests you are proposing since you are the one who is making the extraordinary claims about your insole product including "world records set" and "race records set" and "will enhance your performance". Why don't you reread Simon's post and report back to us when you have results which justify your unbelievable marketing claims. Until then, there is nothing more that you can do to convince me that your insole products are not only useless but also overpriced. Better yet, why don't you go try to sell your insoles somewhere else since, obviously, you don't have a shred of research data to support your laughable marketing claims.:butcher::boxing::mad:

    So Dennis:

Here you go blowing your own horn, you entrepreneur you.

Selling your wares for profit and to upgrade your name in the world of biomechanics.

We here on The Arena are purely interested in the science of biomechanics and give our all for nothing to the science for the good of practitioners and patients alike.

Your bias and personal opinion is probably worth something but in reality, since almost all that is contained in these personal writings is texted and not peer reviewed, not very much in an EBM sense.

There is no real evidence that your theories are based upon and furthermore they require some large leaps of faith that unless taken, leaves one to wonder about its flaws and falsehoods until proven.

Oh wait, these are Kevin's books that he is self promoting...not Dennis

    Where's the eliminate Dennis button.

Why hasn't he gone into oblivion where I predicted he would go?

How much is $139 in spanish?
