Hi Podiatry Arena,
I would like to invest in some text books & wanted to know what are the most valuable resources others have purchased - i.e. THAT text you refer to time & time again.
Ideally I would like to purchase individual texts on topics such as Paediatrics, Orthoses, Sports..... probably not 1 book that just covers lots of topics superficially (such as Neale's Disorders of the Foot).

Ian G's website has an excellent, comprehensive list of textbooks, and I would certainly second his recommendation of Kevin's books. I recently invested in all 3 and they are certainly worth it.

I also like this book for MSK assessment tests

Practical and clinically oriented. Lots of great examination techniques and tips, including pediatrics.

Phew Bel! That is some price tag but looks brilliant.

 

If you ever see a copy of root vol 2, buy it at any price.

 

Gait analysis: An Introduction by M. Whittle

Great book !

 

Brukner & Kahn's Clinical Sports Medicine...whilst there are more specific pod texts, this physio bible is nifty and easy to digest.

 

I gave mine away - to aSouth African Pod. To him it was a months wages; to me it was bookcase space.

 

On a more serious note than my giving away of Root 2... you may want to think about this

ISBN-13: 978-1852339258 The Human Foot: a Companion to Clinical Studies.

Often one has to get outside the square - this is exactly that. Rob

 

This is just a personal opinion, but one of the most important books I ever read was
Nicolai Bernstein's The Co-Ordination and Regulation of Movements.
Bernstein is often said to have coined the term "biomechanics"

BTW I have a spare copy of Root Vol 2 if anyone wants it
