Hello,

I wonder if there is a classification of the different widths of the lasts of running shoes. For example if you use a narrow mold adidas, asics if you use a wide toe ...

Does anyone know if there is such a classification?

No.. every company has its own specific lasts, and they will vary from category to category. They are a precious and closely guarded secret, understandably, since the last is the single most important part of the manufacturing process.

I think it should be, even if there isn't only one standard for anthropometrical measurements (sizing systems).

In order to have a specific sizing system for running shoes it should be made anthropometrical measurements in this specific population of athletes. Don't know any official standard but, probably, big companies who afford to finance the measurement have their own internal standard

There still is a standard for Last manufacture just not a lot adhere to it.

In running shoes, NewBalance are about the closest to it as l see it, with width fittings in 2E, 4E, 6E and a D fitting.

Most just seem to go with "Narrow", "Wide' or "Extra wide" what does that mean?

1/2 sizes should be both length and width different and a size 9 from one brand should be the same fitting in every brand, all of this went out the window with China manufacture basically.

It is a clever way to "control" your market share in a way, your size 9 Nike wont fit like a size 9 NewBalance, so you stick with what you know.

l can see more of this happening as Internet shopping becomes the norm.

There are three standards that we work with the Euro, US & UK.
Although the size stamped on them is different they should fit the same.
Ladies Euro 37 fits a like a ladies UK 6 or a US 7, but they rarely do.

The difference between each sizes should be about
the same, 3.2mm or an 1/8 of an inch

Clarks Australia had big issues when we stopped making their footwear here in Australia, the original Last were sent to Fiji and the production quality had issue but they fitted the same. Then, when they took their production from Fiji to China, they didnt take the Last's, they were remade in China, end result the School shoe season they were said to be out 1.5 size to what was stamped on the shoe.

This is because they dont follow a standard
