"International sportswear brand Reebok has launched a special edition sneaker to commemorate the 68th anniversary of what Israel calls its ?Independence Day.?
The shoe, (has) the words ?Israel 68? emblazoned on the heel,"

Starting in late 1947 and through 1948, Zionist militias ethnically cleansed Palestinians in a series of well-planned operations.
In what is known as the "Al-Nakbah", or catastrophe, some 750,000 Palestinians (abandoned) their homes and hundreds of towns and villages were destroyed in what became Israel.

These two articles provide a pretty good summary of the past and present:

Goodaye Steven, had a quick read but only got to the 3rd paragraph of the Zionist blog piece, a few observations

"is the Palestinian refusal to accept Jewish sovereignty in the Middle East"

okay, and hasn't Israel continued to refuse to accept Palestinian sovereignty in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories? The Palestinians can rightly feel 'annoyed' at the creation of a 'Jewish state' within the Palestinian region. At that time, 1947-48, the land allotted to the Zionists by the British / French, the Palestinian Muslims, Christians and some religious minorities comprised 45% of the population!

"This attitude has existed .., since the Arab rejection of the Balfour Declaration in 1917.''
The declaration, between Britain and a major Zionist representative, was in contrast to the McMahon-Hussein correspondence, which promised the Arab independence movement control of the Middle East territories (after) World War I.
So much propaganda. Who were the terrorists in the ?48 expulsion of 700,000 native Palestinians, committing atrocities? Yep the Jewish Zionist groups Lehi, Irgun, and even Haganah (see Deir Hassin massacre for an example). Who regularly ?mow the lawns? in Gaza (two of the better known are the operations carried out by the ?most moral army in the world? the Israeli Defence Force in ?08-09 and ?14) The 2014 ?Operations? ?Brothers? Keeper? and ?Protective Edge? where over 2000 civilians were killed including over 500 children (190 of them under 5 years of age). Yep for an army (IDF) that maintained it prioritised the safety of civilians it did a woeful job, didn?t it.
The Balfour Declaration, which ?was later incorporated into ? the Mandate for Palestine, stated that the UK favoured, ?the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people?. Note the indigenous Arab population were not consulted at all.

"The Palestinians? position is expressed in their devotion to what has come to be called incitement: incessant derogatory propaganda about Jews and Israel, the denial of any historical Jewish connection to Jerusalem"

And the Israelis aren't incessantly spouting derogatory propaganda about the Palestinians, yeah right. In the UN resolution that recognised the state of Israel, Jerusalem (Al-Quds) and its environs was to be under international control, what happened there, and why are the Israelis denying access to so many East Jerusalem non-Jewish residents?
And that's from the 3rd paragraph alone. I briefly looked at the other article, couldn't see any obvious omissions / distortions like the Zionist piece; leave it to someone else to critique that one, mark

Mark, here is another article to read, http://www.targetofopportunity.com/palestinian_truth.htm

There are rights and wrongs on both sides of the fence with the blame shared by many. What is the solution? Only a transformation of consciousness on both sides can create positive change and I do not see that happening any time soon.

Whooa Steven, got yourself a nice piece of extreme views there. Did you read the 'mission statement' from that site, "This website is devoted to fighting Terrorism and the forced integration of Marxist oriented ideals and values into the American mainstream. By exposing the violent actions and the violent speech (and it is very violent, just keep reading) of these so-called "Non-Violent" and "Peaceful" groups, the truth is revealed for all to see. Their brand of Radical Marxist Liberalism poses a serious threat to the American public." I'll have a look at the content when i get back from my morning walk, mark

Goodaye Steven, didn't have to go past the 2nd sentence:
“The Arab countries did not send troops to help the people that are today known as "Palestinians" but rather they sent troops to drive the Jews into the sea. “
None of the Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian or Iraqi leaders ever stated / claimed as an intention. Note, a British MP once offered a significant monetary amount to anyone that could prove same. The only person to take him to court lost and admitted he had no proof. It was the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, based in Egypt, in 1948, stated, “If the Jewish state becomes a fact, and this is realized by the Arab peoples, they will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea."
“According to the Jewish and Israeli news website Algemeiner.com he was not referring to Israelis but to the Jews living in other Arab countries, and was apparently not advocating this as an organized policy, but implied that it would be the unorganized reaction of Muslims to the establishment of the State of Israel. Judging from the quote and the context, appears his usage of the term was rhetoric”
“There is not conclusive proof any relatively important Arab leader said that Jews should be literally driven into the sea or exterminated and there is no evidence to indicate this was ever a policy. It is to be noted there are political and military incentives to claim that the Arabs intended to exterminate the Jews.”
“Palestine” and “Israel” both mentioned in the Christian Bible. As for Israeli the term Palestinian has only been constantly used since 1948.
How's that for starters; a Zionist social media site for sure, mark

    Hi Mark,

I am grateful I read your first post. I always believed what I was told and after doing more research and reflection, I was disappointed in my findings.

The Jewish people have been persecuted since the beginning and then a great number exterminated in the Holocaust. I was not in their shoes in 1948, but I am sure their hearts were hardened only carrying about survival, a place where they could live among their own people without being hated as they were in America, Europe and Russia. They never thought in a million years that the Germans would exterminate them so after the holocaust, it would certainly be believable that the Arab world would want them all drowned in the sea.

Regardless, it is morally incomprehensible to forcibly expel innocent people from their homes and take the land for yourself. It becomes a pyrrick victory that we continue to pay for. I believe If there is a God, it is Love and each of us holds a piece of Divinity although it it is hidden while we learn and experience this linear 3D world classroom of ours. We are all human beings and all deserve to be treated just. Judaism is supposed to be about making the world a better place for the next generation for people of all races and religions. The events that happened in 1948 in my opinion, contradict the teachings of Judaism and were wrong. There is much hypocrisy and control in religion and I prefer just working on being spiritual.

I will lastly say, if I was there in 1948, perhaps I would be guilty of acting the same way as when we reach our breaking point, our actions emerge from being totally disconnected from our heart combined with being swept up in the mass consciousness and hysteria of that time period.

Top post Steven; what happened to the Jews (Gypsies etc) in the Holocaust in the 1940's in Europe is certainly one of the most horrific episodes in human history of man's inhumanity.
I am definitely not 'anti-Judaism' (just as i'm not 'anti-Christianity' nor 'anti-Islam') per-se; I am definitely anti-Israeli government (as I am anti-Australian, anti-USA, anti-nearly every country) for the wrongs / injustices they have / are inflicting on the Palestinian people (Muslims, Christians and others).
Zionism is not synonymous with Judaism despite what the zionists claim; interestingly the most vocal international voices criticising Zionism are they themselves Jewish.
    All the best, mark
