In another thread, "bob" quoted Bill Hicks:
I've a love of Hicks and the insightful views of the world he presented http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Hicks . I generally enjoy comedy and probably could list a score of comedians in my top twenty alone ;) But who is your favourite comedian and why?

  2. Can't say that I watch much comedy these days. However, as a young teenager, my favorites were Bill Cosby and also Cheech and Chong. I had a number of their albums (on vinyl) and listened to them frequentl'in my younger days for a good laugh.

Here is one of my favorite Cheech and Chong skits on the Kamikaze Pilot:

Currently, when I have the time, I still enjoy watching Robin Williams anytime he is on a variety show being interviewed and able to do his improv stuff. He is an amazing talent.

  3. Tempted to say Dennis Shavelson for his unerring ability to keep going in the face of a hostile audience - but that might just encourage him. Peter Kay is responsible for several accidents recently....

My favourite at the moment is Nina Conti who is a ventriloquist

Historically, probably Eddie Izzard, "she vetoed my loss of virginity like she was China"

Lee Evans is funny. I loved his Roadrunner show.

I remember him well from the folk circuit long before he became famous and he was always brilliant.

He was granted membership of a gentleman's club - not one of those in which young ladies remove articles of clothing - of which I was an existing member. He was a miserable b#**+r! I believe that he was invited to leave due to his failing to conform to the dress code which was pretty strict at that institution - although I'd stand corrected, but he didn't anyway!

    Cheers

    Bill

Yep, Vicky was my beautiful, late mother`s favourite comedienne....although Jo Brand came close with her views on men; "I do try to enjoy men`s company, really I do, but when i find myself alone in a room with one I can`t resist the urge to punch him".

He didn't like people interrupting his show. I was scared to go for a wee when I saw him at Newcastle City Hall in the 70's!

    I would be 25ish at the time:eek:.

I do not really have a favourite, but I enjoy several comedies. Here is a personal favourite. I was going to post the infamous sex for houses sketch link, but it is inappropriate for a professional forum.

It's much worse. Depending on your point of view of course. I dare not even pm it for fear of offending you.

Talking of which, here is an excellent piece of comedy:

    Where to start.

Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Jeff Dunham, The Blue Collar Comedy Tour (Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, Larry The Cable Guy & Bill Engvall), Jasper Carrott, Monty Python, Two Ronnies, Ron Lucas W/ Scorch the Dragon and Buffalo Billy.

There must be hundreds of others, but these are the ones that stick in the mind.
