There is no doubt that obesity is an infectious disease and the sooner it is recognized as such the better.

Those who are becoming fatter earlier in this growing pandemic are those with the least resistance to the infection an infection which is totally manmade.

In many ways obesity is a direct measure of free market success.

We concluded that the strength training improved obese children’s ability to promote locomotion through greater propulsion. Muscle strength plays an important role in attenuating the negative effects that obesity has on gait characteristics and kinetics.

Is that another way of saying that exercise is good for you and will it have any useful effect on the problem?

Talk about wasted money. All of this research on the harmful effects of obesity is money wasted.

OBESITY IS BAD FOR YOU. That's the lesson.

That's a bit negative I told myself. Come on be a bit up beat find some value in obesity. So here goes.

Come the famine the obese will be able to go for a whole year or maybe even two without eating and survive while the thin ones will last for about a month.

    Over to you.

One or two other advantages of being obese that I found on line are
    - keeps you warm and therefore reduces heating bills
    - more facial adipose tissue makes you look younger
    - there is more skin to tatoo
    - extra fat makes them excellent huggers
    - they make excellent life drawing subjects

Umm it sounds quite good. I think I might put on a couple of hundred pounds for starters just to see if it works out.

I am still wondering what the value is of all of this research into obesity?

As the list of research grows longer and longer the weight of the researchers and readers and patients continues to increase!

Seems to me that continually saying that obesity is bad for you is in some way counter productive and probably diverts attention from more important issues such as a useful, comprehensive analysis of cause.

Call me paranoid but I also wonder who benefits from the growing obesity pandemic?

Obesity is a wonderful mechanism of control. The obese are never going to riot. They are responsible for very little crime. They are excellent consumers. They allow a wonderful opportunity for the medical profession to heroically increase its sphere of power and domination (another form of obesity) even further and in the process of medicalising the problem allows politicians to abdicate responsibility in this area.

But keep this list of reseach growing, it makes excellent camouflage and ensures that all heads are turned in the wrong direction while still maintaining the illusion of scientific and professional value.
