Very pleased to see this interest in foot function during pregnancy.

Approximately ten years ago on this forum I suggested that fertility is linked to foot function. Specifically, gravity drive:
    • Drives the innominates anteriorly (substantiated by other researchers since my 2006 paper), which in turn,
    • Repositions the ovaries (forward and downwards), blocking the fallopian tubes,
    • Making conception difficult if not impossible.
My theorem was based on multiple case outcomes. Many of my patients with the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity could not conceive (even with very aggressive gynecological interventions). After proprioceptive therapy some became pregnant.

Reporting this link on this forum sent some of the members nuclear, without discussions, responding with unprofessional diatribes. Hopefully, they will now be more open to this proposed link between foot function and conception.

See one case of reversal of infertility using proprioceptive therapy (Dino Xydas MD) here.

According to a recent study (below ) ,pregnant women can benefit from foot strengthening exercises .

    Results:

The results suggested that there was a significant difference between the study group and control group in terms of foot width, navicular height, truncated foot length and normalised navicular height truncated, which indicated that there was a significant drop in the arch of the foot (pronation) in the control group compared to the study group (P=<0.001). The foot dysfunctions reported by the study group were significantly less compared to the control group.
    Conclusions:

A comprehensive foot exercise programme was found to be effective in reducing the drop in arch height and also in preventing foot dysfunctions in pregnant women.
