It is sad that human touch and observation is not considered valid objective findings but having these validated by outside observational tools is helpful. Over 27 years of practice and continuing education where I learned about muscle motor points and anatomy trains, it became clear to me that when the nervous system has programed a certain reflex pattern to be very facilitated these effects would occur. The hyper vigilant motor point would become ischemic because of not totally lengthening in response to the antagonist. In turn the next muscle in the kinetic chain would be quick to respond to contraction of the first motor point. Counter productive reflexes can develop such as a trigger point in the planter facia can send the reflex to contract the calf complex in stead of the dorsiflexors in response nerve entrapment pain.

Over the years of observation on this the importance of reflex timing between the abductor hallucis and the plantaris is essential for ground force utilization. The plantaris creates a medial force on the ground at the heel and is balanced by the lateral force on the ground at the forefoot by the adductor hallucis the muscle complex of the the transverse arch. Failure of positioning at ground strike results in what was referred to in another thread as the sneaker squeaker that either the heal or toe would twist on the floor causing the squeak. The resulting external rotation results in push off not being with sufficient ankle dorsiflexion for the plantaris and popliteal to change from rotational antagonists to synergistic knee flexors. Additionally push off transfers to the medial edge of the hallucis tucked under by the adductor contracting without ground force resistance.
