    There was this one:
    Matthew Slattery and Paul Tinley
The Efficacy of Functional Foot Orthoses in the Control of Pain in Ankle Joint Disintegration in Hemophilia
    J Am Podiatr Med Assoc 2001 91: 240-244

But pay attention to how the results are presented and analysed. We use this in the research methods course on how not to do it. ;)

    Hi Sam

My colleague- Lee Short has quite an extensive knowledge of the disease process in Haemophila and resulting disabilities. He runs a clinic up in Leeds in the Haemotology Department. He has good outcomes with managing various stages of Haemarthropathy, with a compined approach of functional foot orthoses, modified footwear and rehab exercises.

He is not able to log onto the site at present as he has changed e-mails and forgot password.

Anyway, he has forwarded his e-mail (leeshort210@btinternet.com) if you wish to contact him.

Tell him to use the Contact Us (at bottom of page) and tell me his old email - easy to fix.

Lee Short at Leeds as above. He's the dude on this. I've done a similar talk and found Lee's experience and knowledge really valauble.

Make sure you are well prepared and let them know that you're not particularly experienced in this area. I'd suggest a good, wide read of the literature. The impact on the foot and ankle is monumental and you should know loads about it. There is tons of info out there. Look at loads of imaging as well. You need to understand from a chemical perspective how haemarthrosis affects joint surfaces, synovium etc. Read David Stephensons work - he's done his PhD on haemophilia and discovered some really interesting findings. Make sure you really know your stuff well.

Where is the service who have asked you to talk?

Good luck, it's a fascinating area.
    Sally
