We are looking into the possibility of offering the chance for one of our podiatrists to undertake the advanced practitioner training.

Has anyone had any experience of undertaking this training? If so how has it increased your scope of practice? What benefits do you think it has brought to yourself and to your department (if you work for an organisation)?

I would be grateful for any feed back around the use of advanced practitioners with in podiatry.

Can you be more precise, what advanced practitioner training are you referring to? There are a number of practical training programmes designed to provide support in developing 'advanced' skills, there are an increasing number of post-graduate courses (post grad certificates, diploma's and masters) aimed at developing 'advanced' practitioners. Specialist Practitioner and extended scope practitioner are also terms used.

I was wondering if anyone has been through a similar process and the benefits they have developed for themselves and for the organisation they work for. Also how has the scope of practice altered and what does their workload now consist of.
