I am starting a small doms round and just wondered about the best suppliers on the basic sets of equipment (nippers, diamond deb, blacks file, scalpel handles) and also for basic sundries (gloves, plastic aprons, couch roll, basic dressings, blades).

Also wondering about the best doms bag, foot rest, small stool. Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks Katie

Try to find a Zuma chair, french 'zero gravity' chair. A lightweight beach chair that puts people's feet at the right height.

This is the UK webpage. The wonders of the EU. The French page is WWW.lafuma.fr.
    NOW there is a translation!
It is 300lb, not kilos. I guess 'Zuma' is short for Zero gravity lafuma'.

    Lafuma Recliners and More
    Latest Updates -

New in 2010 - the return of Lafuma Extra Large Recliners!

After a couple of years when Lafuma in France would only supply the Futura recliner for UK customers who wanted a larger recliner, this year the RSXA XL is back - the expanded version of the standard Lafuma recliner that we know and love.

We think it's good news for anyone who needs a little bit more room in their recliner (as a rule of thumb, we say anyone over 6'2" might want to consider the larger size).

You can find full details on the currently available range of recliners here.

    Or read on...

This site is all about the superb reclining chairs, folding chairs, loungers and garden and camping accessories made by Lafuma SA of France.

Most of all it’s about the Lafuma Recliner, the most blissfully comfortable relaxing chair we’ve ever come across. Depending on where you come from, you may have seen these referred to as La Fuma recliners, Lafuma Relaxers, or possibly even La Napoule recliners - but all these names refer to the same product.

One of our favourite Lafuma recliners,
the smart and stylish RSXA in Forest - new in 2006

If you are looking for other items made by Lafuma, such as their top-quality rucksacks, boots and other outdoor equipment, we’re afraid you’re not quite in the right place - try some of the links provided by Google in the navigation bar on the left.

But we do also stock Lafuma folding chairs and Lafuma LP3 and Siesta sun loungers - just follow the links for full information!

    Lafuma (or La Fuma) Recliners

If you’ve never sat in one of these, please do so at the first opportunity. We can tell you how comfortable they are until we are blue in the face, but there is just no substitute for trying it out yourself.

They’re designed as a garden chair, but are also widely used in healthcare by therapists who need their clients in a highly relaxed state - reflexologists, hypnotherapists, psychotherapists and so on. They wouldn’t be using Lafuma recliners if they weren’t the most relaxing reclining chair available.

    RSX versus RSXA

Lafuma recliners come in two basic types, depending on the fabric used. You have a choice between “Airlon” padded material, with about an inch thick of comfort padding, or “Batyline” mesh, which is not padded but stretchy instead, moulding slightly to your body shape for just as much comfort as the padded version. The RSX model is padded, and the RSXA is Batyline.

In addition, nearly all the RSXA models have Iroko hardwood armrests, for a pleasant natural wood sensation under your hands while you are relaxing in the chair.

The RSX Lafuma recliners come in the following colour choices:

    Burgundy
    Green, shown fully extended

    Navy/Marine

And the RSXA Lafuma recliners come in these colours:

Carbon - swish and modern-looking, new in 2007

Forest - new in 2006, in a subtle sage green. Very popular.
Seigle - French for Rye, also known as Oatmeal or Biscuit

    As seen on TV!

If you watched Channel Five's "Nice House, Shame About the Garden" you will have seen two of our Seigle recliners in their natural habitat. Click here to see the show write-up - then click on the bottom image to see our recliners!

    “Weight Limits”

People do tend to ask how heavy a person you can sit in a Lafuma recliner. It is true that Lafuma used to suggest a weight limit of 90 kg, or about 15 stone, for a standard recliner - but they no longer specify this.

The one thing we would suggest you bear in mind is that if you do put somebody quite heavy in an RSXA (Batyline stretchy fabric) recliner, the fabric will start to stretch and sag - unlike an RSX recliner which is padded instead of stretchy.

If you are concerned about weight in a Lafuma, we would guide you towards the Extra Large version in Seigle, which American suppliers suggest will happily take up to about 300 lb weight (we don't know anybody that heavy to test it on).
