    Dear All,

On Saturday 28th July 2012 in the EDP there was an interesting article on the management of sports injury.

Sports Physiotherapist Peter Penny was interviewed on Sports Injuries and their treatment.

The Sports Injuries centre at Spire Norwich Hospital has the use of all X Ray, CT and MRI investigative scans.

They also do full GAIT SCAN analysis using a pressure plate system and prescribe Orthotics.

This seems to be providing a Private Service within an Private Hospital environment and using the Hospitals facilities.

I wonder how this service is funded, ie does the Private Clinic pay rent for the premises and for the use of the Investigative procedures.

Would this ever happen for Podiatry services in this manner.

Interesting, is this another nail in the Coffin Of Podiatry by a profession less divisive and more ambitious than our profession seems to be.:deadhorse:

From the spire website Gait Scanning section- 'the prescription the gait scanner generates will be equally unique to counter your specific imbalance'

Spot the issues with the above ;)

I imagine that this is funded by Spire. It will be an addition or enhancement to their core physiotherapy department.

UK Podiatrists can have practicing rights in private hospitals. I have practicing rights in four private hospitals for example. I would think that if I had the time, inclination, or spare cash I could plaster a huge advert on a couple of Spire or Nuffield hospital websites.
