Foot Orthosis Articles in Podiatry Today Magazine

Discussion in 'Biomechanics, Sports and Foot orthoses' started by Kevin Kirby, Apr 14, 2012.

  1. Very interesting article, I really enjoyed it.
I wanted to ask what Dr.Levine meant about casting in prone or supine depending on certain situation. For instance, are there any specific reasons you would choose supine over prone or vice versa.

In my practice, my dad and I just use the supine method and have since we started and seems to work very well.

The first conference I attended for Pedorthics was in toronto and Dr. Volpe was the keynote speaker and he was mainly lecturing about paediatrics, and when he came to casting techniques, he stunned most of the room by saying foam box casting is a waste a time and demanded anyone to challenge him on it (interesting because the majority of the people in the room use this method) and you could hear a pin drop, everyone was stunned and yet nobody chose to question him.
