Hi with the big conference coming up in May, I have been wandering how many of us Pod Arena ites will be going???

Perhaps we could have a fancy dress evening so that all those who need be can stay incognito?;)

It could be fun :dizzy:eek:r not:confused: to meet that pods we have conversed, admired,:D disagreed with,:boxing: agreed with, and "welcomed":welcome: into our homes and offices on a very regular basis,

    Just a thought

    Cheers

I'm still thinking on it, I'm a bit annoyed the last two conferences were Christchurch, then Hobart. Could they get any further away from WA if they tried (and I went to both). I would be more tempted if it was a little closer to home and 'Wiggles world' just isn't enough incentive.

    Hi Paula,

The one before Christchurch was in Perth! Before that there was Canberra and before that Adelaide. I do think that they try to spread them around as evenly as possible.

    Cheers, :drinks

    Brad

P.S. I'm looking forward to the conference enormously. I've always enjoyed going to as many conferences and seminars/workshops as I can and now that it's compulsory for CPD, I don't have to justify my going to my wife! She even came to Hobart with me!:D

    Hi Brad,
Yes I went to Perth, but missed Canberra and Adelaide for some reason (probably childrearing), I always get something out of conferences which makes it very worthwhile, it's getting there I can't be bothered with!
I took all my family to Christchurch we had a fantastic holiday!
I may get to Qld, have to make up my mind!

PORTAL Education will have a booth so all of you who are members please come along and say hello (if you are not a member also come up and have a chat)!!!

PORTAL approached APodC last August to have it as a PORTAL "Live" conference (i.e. broadcast it Live with interaction from people all over the world in real time) - APodC to this date have still not given us an answer??? (By the way this would have cost APodC zero dollars to do through PORTAL, we asked for no fee...)

We thought it would have been great for all the rural practitioners around the country (and international Podiatrists/Health Professionals) so they could attend online if they couldn't make it to the venue itself on the Gold Coast - obviously APodC don't share the same thoughts about rural Podiatrists as PORTAL does...

See you all at DFCON if anyone is going in person, otherwise see you online....

A posting from the Australasian Podiatry Council
Subject: the Australasian Podiatry Conference 2009

Did you know that over 500 registrants have already caught the early bird!!

We congratulate you, early bird, and encourage you to pass this form on to colleagues who are yet to take flight! They can still find an early bird spot.

If they register by Friday April 10 they can fly with you to what is shaping up as the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest ever podiatry conference.

A dedicated industry-specific conference program has been developed, which is now downloadable via http://www.apodc.com.au/2009APCprogram.html. The program will cover a wide range of topics from international and local speakers such as Dr Robert Frykberg from USA, a leading expert in management of the diabetic foot; Professor Chris Nester, a specialist in Biomechanics and Orthotics from the University of Salford, UK; Professor Bill Vicenzino, from Queensland University of Technology who is a lower limb and muscoskeletal specialist; and Dr Nick Brown, whose expertise is in biomechanics of athletes at the Australian Institute of Sport.

A new initiative for the 2009 Australasian Podiatry Conference program is the Special Interest Breakfast Sessions featuring workshops on sports podiatry and podiatric surgery, to name a couple. Remember to book early to secure your place as numbers are limited!

The Conference Dinner promises to be a great night of food and entertainment. The dinner is a fully ticketed event. RSVP by Friday 8th May to secure your ticket. Have your dancing shoes on because we have a fantastic jazz and dance band to dance the night away.

It wouldn’t be a Conference Dinner without the Australian Podiatry Education and Research Foundation (APERF) Auction. A range of fantastic items have already been donated by generous sponsors and supporters, including Asics, Comfort & Fit, The Athlete’s Foot, New Balance, OAPL, Kumfs and Nike, so plenty will go under the hammer. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to APERF, and we are on the lookout for more auction items!

Seventy (70) trade and exhibitors across 120 booths spanning 3000 square metres will be in the Trade and Exhibition Hall at the conference. Booths were virtually sold out early in the new year; visit the website to see the current trade and exhibitors.

Generous sponsors of this year’s conference include: Steel Blue, Lamisil, KCI Medical, Keystone Education, Adidas, Comfort and Fit, Ascent, Donjoy, Crocs, Clarks Shoes, Brands Worldwide, Destination Conference and Incentive and Flight Centre. A big thank you to all of our current sponsors and supporters.

You're a good dad, Craig. You really are!! (Not one ounce of sarcasm at all).

I will say nothing of my parenting here and my need to escape to another state least my colleagues think less of me.

We have all been getting those updates on the countdown to the conference from APodC (610 registrations!) and from one of the exhibitors (I didn't read the small print, but did we agree to let APodC hand over our email addresses for this spam), but anyway ... here is my update and countdown:

    We went to Wiggles World!

I have been spammed with that stuff as well. Not happy about it, but just checked the registration form and we were given this option:
I and you obviously did not check this box. I did not realise that this was to opt out of getting spam from the trade exhibitors. It could have been made clearer. Poor form by APodC.

I have spoken with Elisha.. ApodC..she has really been under the pump. Giving up public holidays and weekends to help make this all happen. Huge effort.
Well done Elisha and if you are still standing will be ready with a wine or 2 for you.

    Cheers
