AWP - deregulation of State monopoly health provision.

Discussion in 'United Kingdom' started by Mark Russell, Dec 1, 2010.

The following is an extract from a UNISON membership information sheet regarding AWP service contracts which the government intends setting up to meet demand for failing services. The term "vested interests" springs to mind yet again - but it will be interesting to see what line the SCP take in advising its membership - as clearly deregulation of monopoly services may have a beneficial effect for the majority of its membership i.e. those in private practice.

Should UNISON and the NHS come with a government Health Warning?

  3. Personally speaking, I wouldn't trust any politician whatever their church, nor any trade union, with the future of my profession. It will be a major step forward when the podiatric profession learns how to stand on its own feet and takes responsibility for its own direction, without the influence of others whose agenda is not in the interests of podiatry, its practitioners or its patients. In our lifetime?

    Well said Mark!

Presumably, Toeslayer (who works in Australia and can therefore be forgiven for being unaware that the current UK government is a coalition of the Conservative and Liberal parties) wishes to disenfranchise those members of the profession who happen to vote Conservative or Liberal.

Lets keep party politics off these pages and concentrate on the progress of the profession irrespective of which brand is in power in that den of thieves (please feel free to quote me).

    Bill Liggins

PS. Sadly, not in our lifetimes Mark, and not until the members of the profession are big enough to rise above their own petty prejudices - party political or otherwise - and look at the bigger picture.
