    Hi

I graduated last year and every year at Uni we completed a basic life support course with AED training.

I understand from the SCP guidelines that we have to complete an update course annually. My questions are:-

    1) Can I complete a course ran by an external company and if so does it have to be a particular company recommended by the SCP

    2) What type of course do I need to complete. I thought it would be simple but there are many different choices, First Aid at work, Basic Life Support etc.

I have tried to contact the SCP but my e-mail has had no response and I've had to leave an answerphone message. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

My local SCP has got a course soon but I am unable to attend on that day!

    Thanks
    Katie

You can attend life support courses wherever you like, you do not have to rely on theSCP run courses which in my experience are few and far between.

The last one I attended was at my local hospital run by the resuscitation team. I believe it is basic life support that you need for the purpose of administrating LA.

Others may know more than me.

    Hi Katie,

If your local SCP course has no suitable dates try contacting their secretary or chairperson by email (their contact details should be readily available from Pod Now).
Not good enough for any fee paying member IMO! :hammer:

Your local NHS ambulance service may run a course which may provide a more suitable date. Our branch (South Yorkshire) holds courses usually twice a year.

Please private message me for details. We have one running soon (which may be fully allocated) although I can provide you with details if required for the next course.

    Kind regards,

    Mandy.
