    Hi

I am looking to buy (probably second hand) an autoclave, just wondering about the best model to buy and wondering what people would recommend.

Also would like recommendations for a nail drill (again not the most expensive) to use with both domiciliary and clinic work (I move around a few clinics).

I am based in the UK. Thanks for your time

    Katie

Hi Katie , I set up a second practice a few years ago and did not want to spend $5000 plus on an autoclave, so I purchased a brand new one from ebay. I think it cost about $800 and came from the USA.

It works fine. I would not suggest going second hand on something like and autoclave unless you know the history , particularly the service history .

    Good luck

    Hi Katie,

I can appreciate the initial outlay for an autoclave etc. may prove very expensive. Just a thought, leasing could possibly be a viable alternative. Many of the UK podiatry suppliers offer a leasing service: DLT & Sandy, Canonbury. Also leasing is I believe a very good way of offsetting tax costs.

Although I personally do not lease my equipment I would recommend DLT & Sandy as a really good supplier with excellent customer service.

    Regards,

    Mandy.

    Hi Katie,
when i was looking to purchase a new autoclave i spoke directly to canonbury (very helpful chap called Steve Sheldon) about how patients i was seeing, what functions i required, budget restraints etc, and we worked out the best model for my practice demands and budget, and on top of that he agreed payment in installations (not quite leasing but reducing the immediate impact of the purchase)
