Complimentary Therapy Clinics Vs HPC

Hi All

It has occurred to me that a lot of the above clinics are springing up advertising a range of therapies some including "Chiropody"

As the title is now protected will:-

The same rules apply to them when advertising in yellow pages, registration number of the practitioner etc before YP will accept the advert ??

If the same rules do not apply then an FHP is brought in to work in the premises, who would be liable for prosecution the FHP or the owner of the clinic ?

If they do not have a Chiropodist working there and are still advertising "Chiropody" are they still in breach of the act ??

Any idea's??

Probably,

As mentioned on another forum it will be up to the HPC or trading standards to pursue these issues.

The next year will tell us if the powers are real.

It's IMO a great shame that this situation has arisen, it could be blamed on the process, as some have said it was a very intimidating experience, but again some training organisations continued despite knowing there graduates could never be chiropodists. Hence FHP's.

What a mess.

 

On the notice board of a local council warden run sheltered home read the following notice: "Chiropody Clinic" with no names advertised, please inform the warden if you would like an appointment.

Is this a way around the HPC? Can the HPC take any action over this kind of advertising? or is it another toothless quango that we all pay for (reluctant or not).

If local council are not aware of the HPC and it's agenda, then what chance is there of the public knowning?

 

It was interesting to note in the just published Yellow Pages for my locality the link was not to Foot Health but to Complimentary therapies which I thought kind of quirky.

So here we are complimented to healing crystals, ear candles (why does Father Ted always spring to mind at this point!!) and goodness knows what else to get rid of hair wherever it springs once the land mark of 40 has passed.

I don't know but a link to Foot Health may have been more preferable.
