Does anybody recommend Gordochom as a fungal nail treatment? Or is there any literature on this product?

 

Hi,

The active ingredient in Gordochom is undecylenic acid, which was recommended for it`s fungistatic (NOT fungicidal) effect. In other words, it prevents fungal growth/reproduction so depends on skin turnover to work.

However, this compound has generally has been replaced by newer and more effective medicines for the treatment of tinea, such as Amorolfine.

Waste of time & money! 1st choice for o/mycosis should be oral terbinafine unless there are contraindications. The only topical treatment of any value is amorolfine and even this isn't very good (probably more related to compliance with proper treatment).

 

I personally think it has got more to do with the compliance as I see good effect with both gordochom and amorolfine in 'eager' ppl..

 

I agree with dragon-723, if the patient is compliant i have great results with Gordochom .
Ffirst choice is oral meds,partially if more than 60 % of the nail is affected and fungus into the base of the nail. but the older patient often can't take these.
Results with gordochom have been more effective on the white chaulky nail fungus and the yellow/brown streaks than the nail that is 100% effected and distorted and thickened , thickening due to fungus not damage.
Patient needs to use for a long period , usually > than 6 mths, cheaper and easier to use than some of the other products.
Have seen some of the studys , and their are bias', so my opinions are from observations and clinical experience not necessarily evidence based.

 

is there any study that prove the expensive Loceryl is really worth it?

 

haven't source them (ref for lorceryl) out , only read the ones that are promoted with the product, same as with gordochom. Loceryl has is effect at times too, none are 100% effective in all cases (well thats my clinical observation)but neither is the oral meds 100% either.

My clients have great results with Gordochom when there is no nail matrix involvement. Easy to use, available without prescription and relatively cheap.

 

i sell it to patients, with a small mark up, glad to see others have good results too.

 

Hi I have also prescribed it with good results. The bonus is that it softens both the nail and the onychphosis that is often present. The leads to easier reduction of the nail and debridement and clearing of the sulci.
