    Hi,
I have been a member for quite some time and gain lots of knowledge reading these forums. Today I have a question.

Patient came in last week with pin point pain plantar surface of third metatarsal head on right foot. Pain has been present for about 18 months but recently comes on more frequently. The pain only occurs when walking in shoes that show pressure across the metatarsal heads. If he stops walking, pain stops. If in wider shoes, does not get pain. I automatically thought mortons neuroma so had an ultrasound to confirm this. Interestingly the ultrasound revealed an adventitious bursa on the medial plantar aspect of the 3rd met head.

My question is what can be done for this if anything?? He did not respond to any padding or strapping techniques, just wider footwear which is very difficult for him as he is fashion conscious!!

I look forward to hearing some thoughts.

    Cheers Mich

Steroid injection into bursa. He will need to go back to his G.P and possibly be referred on for this.

Also how about not wearing offending footwear.
