At least the HPC chief excecutive has managed to do something even if its only to get himself disaplined.Any movement from the HPC is a welcome change at least it shows someone is alive up there.

Which Parliamentary Minister has the overall responsibility for HPC?

  6. It falls within the remit of Lord Warner, though that is not quite the same thing as having "overall responsibility" ie because the HPC is an independent regulator the DoH has quite a hands off approach

    Many thanks Mark.

In this day and age where we are all accountable I am surprised there is no direct accountability. In the event of an irregurality (I am sure there must be such occurances) and HPC were found wanting, to whom would you report, the Ombudsman ?

    Cheers

  8. In the event of an irregularity carried out by the HPC recourse would be to the Commission for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence, which oversees all the health regulators, but as this is a new body I'm not certain how this would work in practice. Often a well placed Parliamentary Question concentrates the minds - let me know if this is an option.

Is the irregularity at the HPC or with one of its registrants or professional remits - eg university or healthcare institution?

Thanks Mark that was very helpful.

    >Is the irregularity at the HPC or with one of its registrants or professional remits - eg university or healthcare institution?

Tge hypothetical situation involves the HPC but in a complex situation what would happen if the scenario included one of its professional remits?

A question in the House sounds interesting, too.

  10. Then, hypothetically speaking, it would be a matter for CHRE to investigate as this would perhaps suggest a failing or weakness in the legislative framework or indeed the operation of the regulator under the current provisions.

No doubt you will let me know if a PQ needs placing.

    Did the shoes arrive?
